Next weekend, DH and I are planning to be away on Fri night. We'll give his Friday PM shot, then head out of town and won't return until Saturday evening--around time for his PM shot.

We've had pet sitters, friends who are cat people, and most recently our neighbor has been coming over 5 out of 7 days to get to know Alex. Last night, he attempted to give Alex his shot and it didn't work. My neighbor was going to hold Alex while his wife gave the shot. Alex ended up biting Kevin and while he's game to try again, his wife isn't interested. Imagine that!

What do you think about us skipping the Sat AM shot? Is this a really bad idea? Do we adjust any of the doses if we're planning to miss this shot?

There is no way to adjust for a missed shot.

I think I would let the willing neighbor give it a try. If it doesn't work out it's no worse than a fur shot. At least you all tried.

Have you tried the Feliway Diffuser? He can't break it, I think, and it might give him enough of a calming edge that the neighbor might be able to slip him his shot.

It had zippo effect because he broke out of it.

The diffuser plugs into the wall like an air freshener and works constantly. Alot of people have had really good luck with it.

I just got one for the dog and it seems to be helping.

You probably need to shut Alex in the smallest bathroom you have and get 4 diffusers! Good Luck!

They are spendy to start off, check out Petco or Petsmart for prices or look for a generic brand. They suggest putting it in the room the cat spends the most time in.

There is also a spray that I just bought for the kitties that was around $20, you spray it on their bedding and places they hang out, etc.

The dog one cost $50, but she has stopped chasing her tail, so worth every penny of it right now.

I can check the diffusers out.
But there's no locking Alex in a small room. He got locked into a closet once for a little while and he put gouges in the wood doors.

Would you believe me if I said he can also be the sweetest boy ever??

I can see it. My civie Chase is the sweetest lap cat I've ever had but the vet won't touch him anymore unless he's been gassed first.

Shakes had a 6 foot 4 inch male vet cornered in his office and would not let him move!
but in walks his small sweet assistant and he was rolling over on his belly!
(he hates men!)
