I'm feeling a bit down about Alex's progress. His ears are looking a bit ragged so slowed down the testing to pre-shots for a couple of days. But we haven't seen any blues in about a week, and greens in over a month.

Discounting Saturday since we were off-shedcule with feeding and shots, what do you think? Is it time for an increase?

I did read Robin's recommendations for Thumper using a sliding scale and wonder if something like this would work for Alex.

I think it is time to increase, Ginny. Maybe just to 1.5? I don't know about the sliding scale with him. It seems like his reactions to dose changes are very unpredictable, so I wonder if a sliding scale would be a roller coaster for you? Let's see what others think.

Are you using the neosporin on his ears?

I agree with an increase. Will you be around to test this weekend?

Maybe you could go to 1.5u for the next few days then on Saturday if you will be around go to 1.6u for a little bam dose to get him moving.

Sorry you are feeling down, wish his numbers were looking better!
maybe a 1.5 might not be a bad idea, but make sure to hold for a little while...

What do you think of this idea? Alex seems to go wonky as soon as I increase, so what about only increasing one of the doses until he settles into that and then increase the second dose?

I think one of the reasons I'm down in the dumps is that Stan and I bought into the Marriott Vacation Club back in Feb before Alex was diagnosed and now we can't go on vacation. I'm really getting antsy. My friend can try to cover for us for a couple of days, but I don't see any week-long vacations in our future. Just feeling a little sorry for myself, I guess.

Believe me I understand, my husband and I got married last year and still have not had our
honeymoon...I cant even leave Shakes for one night!
exhausting! I am so ready for a vacation too!
its a shame we all dont live closer so we could take turns taking care of out kitties
at least then we would not have to worry!

I'm sorry Ginny, at least we are all in the same boat. Nancy took Payne on vacation with her! It would be nice if we could ship our kitties off to each other. The only reason I'm not whining is cause we didn't plan our yearly beach trip this year since we had the wedding. This would be the week we would go. I've been too busy to think about it.

As far as Alex's dose, I don't know. I can tell you I have no idea what changed with Thumper & I don't expect the good #'s to last, with her they never do. :YMSIGH: The irregular shot times on the wedding weekend are the only things that have been different. I hate to say it but it made me think about TID. Not that I would be able to carry it out but I wonder if that could be done for a weekend or something?

That idea could work, Ginny. It's the same effect as what Angela is doing with Henry. She's changing dose times instead of doses, but the effect is the same.

I wish I were independently wealthy.... I'd start a business, buy one of those megabuck RVs like I see pull into the campground every weekend (I call them cities on wheels), and Bob and I could tour the country and house/pet sit for people with diabetic cats. My slogan could be "Will Shoot For Food".

I don't know if you know all the "Alex" details, but he's a fesity boy and it's difficult for anyone else to give shots because they can't find him and when they do, they're afraid of him. So in addition to your RV, you might want to invest in body armor!

It is so difficult working our schedules around giving shots. Kitty was the gentle girl early on in this dance and my friends were helping me test and shoot with no problem. Now when I am not home, it takes two friends to test and shoot---one to hold her and one to test and shoot. I was traveling last week with work, and my friends came over to test and shoot and they sent me pictures of her....they were both wearing big heavy work gloves up to their elbows!

I hope it gets better and that you and Stan can find a way to go on a vacation!

Come on Sir Alex....better numbers please!!!
