So, Alex's preshots are sucky. When we do get some mid-cycles, they aren't terrible. The insulin is working, but these preshots are making my crazy. As you can see, I switch back and forth between 1.8 and 2. Is it time to raise some more? What do you think? I have to think he's surely over the boucning in reaction to numbers over 100, but there's always that little suspicion in the back of my mind too, that maybe he needs less  .

Help!

If you took away the low greens 44 and 51 in Jan--I see no indication that he needs less. The curves are there--not inverse, not flat---- they just are not deep!

I surely don't consider myself a "dosing" expert....Kitty just says..."Give me Some!" But, if you are going to be able to test, I would consider increasing-- a little!

I agree with Kim, Ginny. On a weekend when you are gonna be home, go for an increase. Arm yourself with plenty of strips for testing and some food with gravy in case you have to get Alex’s numbers up a bit mid cycle. You gotta know and the only way to know is to try.
What do you think?

Sounds like a plan, ladies.

I think I may go up to 2.0 for a few days (with consistency) and then if we're still seeing these high numbers, I can step up to 2.2-ish.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Late to the party as usual, but in full agreement with everyone
I would also raise as you have some wiggle room

Hey Ginny, is DH home now? Will he test Alex? If so you don't have to wait for the weekend. That's one good thing about my DH being home...today he caught Thumper with a 37 +6!!

Hey Barbara, it's good to see you post. Yes, DH isn't working now, but he's not at home all that much either.

So, I raised Alex to 2.2 yesterday--say 4 shots with this dose. DH got a nadir today of 81, but PMPS is 410.
Seems the standard thought is "bounce", but won't he ever get used to going into the low blues and greens? Will he ever quit bouncing????

Well, we really haven't changed anything with his food in months, but when I actually write it down, I wonder if he's getting enough:

at 6:30am & 6:30pm, he and Audrey share 3 ounces of FF Classic or Wellness
at 12:30am & 12:30pm, he and Audrey share 1 1/2 ounces of FF Classic or Wellness--sometimes I split the 12:30am feeding into 2--one at 10:00pm when we go to bed and the other half at 12:30am

The vet was happy with Alex's weight (10 lbs), but Audrey was down a few ounces on her last visit, so I have been making sure I bring her food upstairs for her to at least get first chance to eat it, so with this change, Alex might be getting a little less than before.

Yesterday's nadir looks great, Ginny. I wonder if you could get a curve and see when he starts down after the shot and feed him a snack then. Or use an automatic feeder to get smaller amounts more often. (once you figure out how much he should be eating, divide it into 4 -5 meals daily.). That could soften out the curve and maybe, make those preshots a little lower.

well, Stan got a curve today, and it was kinda wacky!

AMPS - 270 (first yellow AMPS we've had in over a week)--shot 2.0 instead of 2.2
+3-251
+6-146 (fed his lunch snack)
+7.5 - 111
+9 - 71 (tried to get him to eat--even a few pieces of Evo dry, but he wasn't interested)
+12 - 303 (he was ready to eat) --shot 2.0 again

That looks pretty darned good Ginny :-D Really diggin’ that 71
We could all do without that 300 at the end but maybe Alex went boing from such a good day.
Maybe stay with the 2 units for a few cycles to see if he settles in more? All in all it looks great tho!!!
