hello everyone. i was wondering if anyone had any advise. a friend of mine has her 10yr old kitty in the ER since last night around 930p.

he had thrown up 7 times after she had arrived from work around 515p. she said the 1st two times it was undigested food. then the others were just saliva.

she also said his eye was swollen and red. he has no health problems other than bouts with allergies here and there. but in houston, who doesn't.

anyway they kept him overnight to give him IV fluids, anasthesia (he would not let them touch him) blood work, and xrays.

well this morning they said he has something lodged in his esphogus. they said only thing they can do is give him more fluids so that it will help moisten the GI tract and push through. they said in 12hrs they will run more films and if it hasn't passed they'd do a scope to either pull out or push into the stomach.

what are your thoughts on this??

she is so scared and has never been without her boy. he will be 6yo next month.

OUCH! Poor baby, I wonder what he got into? Sending a special intercession to St Francis to help this guy.

No advice, just prayers that whatever it is, it comes out easily and perfectly.

Eye swollen and red? just one? I took my 6yo girl to the vet in February for just that symptom, coupled with the fact she suddenly started behaving like something had bitten her when she ate--turned out she had a retrobulbar abcess. It gets behind the eyeball, just on the hinge of the jaw, which is why eating hurt her and is potentially fatal.

(They had to drain it and give her antibiotics--and 12 weeks later, wham, diabetes. I wonder.)

But if they've actually visualised something stuck in the poor baby's windpipe the eye may not be the problem...I hope it manages to clear.

Sending all best wishes for recovery. xoxo
