Hey Everyone,
I left a note with the vet today to call back because its been 2 weeks now since Abby has been on insulin. I think we need to change her dose because her numbers are still on the high side. What is your advice so I can compare to the vet's when she calls me back. I know, I missed a week of testing AM numbers. I am getting back on track for the testing. Spreadsheet is in signature :)

Also, I am going to try a new food because FF Patte is making the cats throw up. I don't know which one it is but I keep waking up with piles of throw up throughout the house. I kind of think it's Marley because she doesn't want to eat the wet food but then resorts to it. And their poo, oh my... Big liquid mess and SMELLY. I never had an issue with this for Nutro Wet Food, could it be the quality of the food? IDK. :(

On a positive note, Abby has been drinking less water (compared to before the insulin shots) and I have noticed less urine chunks in the litter box. Her appetite is still good, I feed them at 7:30am and 7:30pm

Thanks in advance :)

So vet called back and said to up her to 2u.
She said to give 2u tonight, tomorrow AM, and tomorrow PM.
Test her before all shots and call her tomorrow night with the results.

I agree with your vet on raising the dose. You may want to do 1.5 for a few days before jumping to 2 just to make sure that 2 isn't going to be too much. always better to raise it in half increments than a whole one.

Shana, have you had a chance to look at the Lantus protocol stickies? SLGS and TR
You may want to go with SLGS since you are feeding dry food. I believe it's a no-no for TR. Anyways, dose increases are usually done in 0.25U. Take a look at them and post on Lantus forum too for more experienced eyes :)

I am not giving Abby her dose this morning.... It under the 12 hour mark and I leave for work in 20 mins. It will be about 11 hours.
This is the lowest she has been "130"!!!!!!! Hooray!!
Am I correct for not shooting?

vet advice: shoot 2u if she is between 200-300
shoot 1u if she is in 100's

I read on here to not shoot if she is in 100's (I believe) correct me if I am wrong, please :)

No shot is the way to go because you don't have a lot of data yet and you'll be away from home all day. I'd leave food out because there's some of the Lantus depot still working.

Yong has recommended that you read up of the SLGS Lantus protocol. I agree with that advice.

Thank you!! I tried to read and it was so confusing. I'm going to take another look and see if I understand it a little more! I updated my signature. I haven't been giving her any of the dry food so I will go with the TR.

Thanks! I am going to check it out again :)
It just is so confusing!! This is a whole new world to me lol. I had someone go over to my house in the middle of today and put down some more wet food just in case! Thankfully I have someone who could do that!

We all understand how you feel because we've been there. It WILL get easier with time. Meanwhile ask any questions you have here on FDMB.

You could also get a timed feeder for mud day food
