Hey ya'll,
Because there's not enough on my plate, I'm looking into going back to school and am trying to figure out how to handle Mr. Chucky for the duration.
He's on ProZinc (1.5 units) and his shot times are at about 7 am/7pm.
My schedule for school would likely be 5:30 - 9 several days a week and then about 10 am - 2 pm Saturday.
I also have a normal 9-5 office job, but I'm working from home for the foreseeable future due to the pandemic, so there is some flexibility for when I can give him his shot during the day.
I was thinking that 9 am/9 - 10 pm might work....not quite 12/12 hours every day but ProZinc is forgiving and his dose is low.
I'm also worried about navigating the change around the holidays.
I'd like to enroll in school in November to start in early December. This is plenty of time to slowly move over, but he'll be spending Thanksgiving with a sitter while I'm out of town with my family. She has a diabetic cat of her own who is also on a 7 am/7 pm shot schedule.
I lucked out finding her and don't want to rock the boat there, so I'm planning to leave him on 7 am/7 pm from now until then, and then do a hard switch to the new schedule.
So I'd skip his 7 pm shot one day and then resume him on his same dose the next day at 9 am.
And then it would be 9 am/9-10 pm from there.
I haven't quite decided what to do for Christmas.
I might just forgo traveling to visit my family, since I don't want to have to drop him off at the sitter and change his shot time again that soon.
Or if his foster family would want to have him over and can accommodate 9 am/10 pm, I would leave him with them for a week and go see my family.
Long story short:
I think I'd like to move Chucky to a 9 am/10 pm schedule in early December.
I'd keep him on 7 am/7 pm until after Thanksgiving weekend, which is when I would skip his 7 pm shot one day and then resume his normal dose at 9 am the following day.
We would then stick with 9 am/10 pm for the foreseeable future.
I'm going to try very hard to not change it again for the Christmas holiday, so he will stay on that schedule at least until I'm done with my program. Thankfully, it should just be a few months.
What do ya'll think?
And if I'm giving him his shot at 9 am, does that affect his eating schedule?
Right now, I feed him 4x a day - 7 am, 12 pm, 7 pm and 12 am.
Should all his meals shift forward a couple of hours to line up with his shots?
I would need to figure out a creative solution for his midnight snack because then it would be 2 am though.
Thanks!
