We have 2 meters and the different in Sox`s bg is like 4points tested at +3.5 and got on Contour next 361.8 FreeStyle lite was 291.6 Again at +6 Contour 358.2 Freestyle 232.2 both new strips and new meter Contour mine is Freestyle and is about 6 months old . Sister tested hers on both first time +3.5 got 5 & 5.1 +6 after lunch was 6.6 on C and 7.7 on FS which would you go with.......Thanks Kath

Meters with Free in the name tend not to do as well testing at higher numbers and may erroneously convince you that all is well.

The FreeStyle (is it the FreeStyle Lite?) was found not to work well with cats. When your cat's blood glucose is in the higher numbers it consistently gives a number much lower than the other meters. For that reason, many of us (several years ago) discovered that whereas we thought our cats were doing pretty well, they were actually having much higher blood glucose than we thought. We all discontinued using the FreeStyle Lite. It was quite a shock. If the cat is consistently in lower numbers the FreeStyle Lite is close in readings to the other meters: it is only when in higher numbers that it is a BIG problem.
My suggestion would be to get rid of the FreeStyle and stick with the Contour.

Can you get the Walmart Relion meters in Canada? The Relion Confirm or Micro would be a good choice.

Good luck,

Ella & Rusty
