How many units of lantus should I give my cat every 12 hours with BG off 320 and higher
he is 6 kilograms weight

Hello everyone! I would like to know how many units of Insulin Lantus you give your cats. I was prescribed to give my cat Jerry 4.5 units, which I think is extremely high. His levels fluctuate from 320 to 360, tested with a human glucometer (Accu-Chek Instant)

Every cat is different. It's recommended to start at 1 unit twice a day and increase slowly as needed. 4.5 units isn't a terribly high dose. How long has your cat been on 4.5 units?

What do you feed your cat? Diet has an effect on blood glucose levels. Dry food is generally a big no-no to feed. Low carb canned food is best. Raw or homemade food can be fed as long as you follow a good recipe or buy a commercial brand of food. What pet food brands are available in Colombia? Is buying raw meat and organs and bones from a market an option?
