Hi
Canadian here so my glucose numbers may seem odd...
I have an almost 10 year old who became diabetic this past summer. We knew it would be likely as she needed long term steroid use for Stomatitis.
In addition she has multi food allergies and can only eat turkey based food.
My question is this... she was started on 2 unit Lantus twice a day. Her initial glucose levels were near 25...
I found she began having hypoglycemic episodes with glucose around 2. So we went to 1 unit twice day and still too low. So the vet said no insulin if glucose under 10. Now if glucose under 15 I find is necessary or she still has hypoglycemia.
I know I am doing my check right and my injections proper. I am a nurse... and i double check and repeat if needed
So now her glucose sits 12-13 it's stable but too high...
Suggestions??

Hello and welcome from BC. Are you using pen needles or syringes for injecting. Cats just need small changes in dose, by 0.25 units at a time. Your kitty - name?- probably needs a dose somewhere betweeen one and two units.

Take a read of the Sticky Notes here, lots of information. If you have blood glucose readings, it'll help us help you with dose if you can enter them in the common spreadsheet format we use here.
