Stumpy's carer

We haven't been able to try and do a glucose curve yet as after every 5th or 6th dose Stumpy's BGL have been doing what we consider to be a relatively big drop. We have been trying to follow the guidelines in the FDMBs FAQ Q4.4 for handling a lower number than normal when you don't have a lot of data, so have been shooting a lower dose. My question really revolves around what do you do next, do you go back to the original dose? continue at lower dose? go to a dose 0.25U under the original dose? something else? Perhaps we are being too conservative and shouldn't reduce the dose?
What we have done so far is to shoot a lower dose and then continue at a lower dose but it doesn't hold him so we have ended up back at the original, and it would be nice to keep his BGL and his dose trending downwards.
NB we are still giving him treats which are high carb as we wait for the zero carb ones to arrive from the US, they are currently at the airport so waiting to clear customs (fingers crossed). We have tried giving him freeze dried treats, and sometimes he seems to enjoy them and others not. Not sure how much impact this is having.
Thanks
