Advice needed please

Cheeky's BG was 16.9 (304) this morning and she's only eaten half her breakfast so far, shot due within the next 10 minutes--if she doesn't finish it should I cut the dose by half?
 
What insulin are you using? If it is Lantus, please go post there, as someone very experienced should be available. My cat hasn't had many complications (yet).

As the insulin takes effect, she is likely to become more hungry and eat the remainder, but you can't bet on that.

A half dose is what my vet had me do pre-dental when my cat was fasting, so that might be reasonable.

Has she had problems with ketones ever? If so, you might do the full dose and then do serial glucose tests to monitor her.
 
Thanks BJM - she's actually eating the rest of it now -- she generally does go back afterward too. I'll give the full dose.

EDIT: 10 minutes later she'd still left about 1/3 of the food. The shot was due and I didn't want to chance it, so gave half since I'll be out most of the day at work. I'll get some advice from the Lantus group today should this occur again--it was just the sight of that big drop even though it's morning.

I'm hoping this might be our breakthrough...but it's very early days yet, I guess. confused_cat
