I've been having great success with Goldie on half a unit of Lantus, but unfortunately yesterday afternoon he got into my cats' dry food and his BG shot up from around 120 to 268. I gave him a whole unit last night, and this morning he's at 219. Better, but still higher than normal. Do you guys recommend increasing his dose until his BG is back where it was, or sticking with the half unit and letting that take it back down more gradually?

Thanks!

He is likely to clear that within 2-3 days and probably tolerate that with no problems.

I would return to the original dose.

If he has ever had ketones or been in diabetic ketoacidosis, monitor for ketones, too.

Can you update your sheet so we can see? It should clear soon though - I wouldnt change the insulin either unless it doesnt clear after 3 - 4days.
