Chester's arthritis is finally starting to give him real problems. The vet suggested we try glucosamine supplement powder. We tried that for a while (3 weeks) but he just did not want to eat any food with that mixed in. After three weeks of trying to get him to eat it, we are moving on...The vet said that we could give him Adequan shots.

Trying to do some research, and figured that you guys know the most about all things cat.
What do I need to know?

The silly boy would probably feel better if he'd quit running and jumping so much. We've fixed him up with kitty stairs to the couch and the bed, but he just jumps over them. He hears the can open for dinner and he's jumping over the couch to race to the kitchen. Then he limps around like a little old man. IDGI. I'm glad that he's so rambunctious and full of life! But dude! would it hurt you to slow down, just a little?

Any other suggestions for treating his arthritis?
Thank you

Mitz has been on it for about a year. It definitely helps. She gets it twice a month but the vet says I could give it to her weekly if it seems like she needs it.

My cat Sheba has recently finished a 4 x weekly course of injection of cartrophen. I think it is similar to adequan but not the same. I have noticed a definite improvement in her mobility. She suffers from arthritis of spine and leg joints. I don't know where you live but I know it is available in Canada and Australia. Not sure about the US. I would recommend it.

I strongly recommend adequan. 18 yr old cat couldn't jump on bed or sofa before and you could tell it was painful for her to sit now is running around and generally more active. Jumping on things no problem. Took it 2x/week for 4 weeks and now monthly.
