Vet has prescribed Adequan for Max. .2mL sub-q twice weekly for 4 weeks, then monthly after that. It arrived today. Can I use the insulin syringes I already have (3/10mL) or do I need to get different ones from the pharmacy?

And for administering it, twice a week...like Monday and Thursday? Or every 4 days?

I would think that if you're administering .2ml you'll need to use 1.0ml syringes in order to get that fine a dose? I think the Adequan is the US version of our Cartrophen (I'm Canadian); Boomer is also on it twice a week and I just chose 2 days like Monday/Thursday.

Thanks Judy

LOL, I started a reply to this last night and then got sidetracked because Max decided to do a crazy nose-dive with his BG. It would appear that I can use the U100 insulin syringes I have to administer the Adequan. .2mL is equal to 20 units. I'm going to go with the Mon/Thu schedule, it's easier to remember than every 4 days. I'll start tonight.

I'm guessing I shouldn't give it at the same time as his insulin? Or does it matter?

I wish I knew I'm sure @Judy and Boomer will reply

Sorry to just see this but glad you got responses. I was just going to add that you’ll need to do a conversion for the adequan dose to use U100 syringes but it can be done....glad you already figured it out.

Thanks everyone! I had to shoot and run after his pm dose, so he’ll get the adequan when I get home. :-)
