Adding Coconut Oil to Cat's Diet

It all depends on few things:
1. what type of coconut oil (if there is a research like in the link above) they don't say which coconut oil they used but most likely the processed one - very unhealthy regardless of species. The only coconut oil worth trying is raw organic virgin coconut oil
2. if your cat doesn't like it no point in giving to him by mixing with food as he might not want to eat it and of course if there is a problem with appetite don't do it. I give Rocky a tiny bit on the side of his dish and he happily eats it
3. if you want your cat to put weight on coconut oil will not do it as it is metabolised differently than other fats and actually promotes weight loss (but ECID so it might have a different outcome in some cats)
4. raw virgin coconut oil is an excellent antiinflammatory and antibacterial

I think the subject is worth further discussion so please chime in, it would be interesting to hear various opinions.
I, personally love coconut oil and give it to my pets.

I was actually wondering about this. I don't feed my cats coconut oil but I used to put it on their fur after brushing. I only used high quality organic virgin coconut oil with no additives, and Sookie really loved it! It helped alot with her dandruff and made her fur look really nice. She really liked licking it off too. When she became diabetic I wasn't sure if I could still use it so I haven't been, but I'd love to treat her to it again. I'm thinking it's not a lot that she'd actually be ingesting but I've read mixed reviews about it so I'm not sure if it's safe. I'd be interested to see other opinions.
