Good morning all! Thought I'd drop in and let you all know how Mr. Spot is doing.
My boy is doing pretty darn good. He is eating (like a little piggy), pooing, peeing, sometimes playing with his imaginary friend, preening, and vocal. His beegee's have been a little on the higher side (140-165) for him, so I was beginning to wonder if anything was going on with him. I also felt a little lump on his belly and his belly felt hard to me. I was a bit concerned that maybe he was getting constipated even tho he was pooing, it wasn't his normal amount of poo. So, vettie bean visit was made and while we were there I asked for a blood draw and urinalysis to be done.
Spot was not very happy with the vet techs when they took him to the back to draw his blood. I heard he was very hissy pissy with them....but they laughed at him because the said he was just sitting there hissing, not trying to do anything to them.
Vet report: Spot is doing great. She said that I am managing his diabetes and CKD great and doing everything right. Ears, eyes, nose, teeth look great. She could not feel any lump on his belly (and I couldn't either at that time), so she thinks it may just be a fatty deposit. She did not think his belly was hard either. So, I guess I was being paranoid on this point. Belly felt good, not constipated. No concerns at this time. Came to the conclusion that since I have switched food - he is now eating the better canned foods, Authority, Merrick BG, Natures Variety- his poo probably isn't as much volume wise. His weight was 12.2 lbs. He was 12.4 at last visit.
Test results: Nothing in urine. Clean, no infections
Creatin - 2.4 mg/dL (up from 2.2 two months ago) -top of the normal scale
BUN - 40 mg/dL (up from 38) - 36 is the top of the normal scale
Phos - 4.8 mg/dL normal range
Glucose - 141 (not bad since he was at vet. tested at 95 before we left and 86 at pmps)
WBC - 9.3 - normal range
RBC - 7.41 - normal range
So, all in all a good report.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Will be keeping you all close to my heart!
