Hi all!

The mailman just dropped off a small but elaborate box containing a new food item from Fancy Feast. I have no idea how long it has been on the market and I have yet to do any research but have any of you heard about this product called Fancy Feast Classic Broth? It seems like it might be an excellent snack for Simmie but the freebie I received in the promo is all fish and fish broth so I would take care in giving it to him regularly.

I know the Iceman would probably dive on it as soon as I open the packet (he is so cute, he is now wrapped around his little ice bowl on the couch and sleeping) but I wanted to get the info on this new product before feeding, if there is any.

Hugs, Lydette and Simmie (Iceman)

Lydette - wow, I have not seen that in the stores or even heard about it! Will definitely look for it now.

I wonder if that could be used to transition my last "dry food hold out" to wet food? She'll lap up the broth of any canned food I give her, but leave the food.

Thanks for the heads up! :thumbup

Hi Geneva and Larry!

Thanks for your posts and Larry I really appreciate that you got to the website before I did...maybe I should have done this before I posted but I was pretty excited to find a potential new treat for the kid.

Geneva I'm going to snack test Simmie before I shoot tonight. I'd like to do is sooner (who can resist giving their kids something new and potentially delicious!) but Amazon has not yet gotten me my new meter cat(2)_steam.

Good luck with all of your kids!
Hugs, Lyd and Simmie

Larry - thanks for that link to the FF Broths page.

Their website says "crafted without ... fillers."

So what are modified tapioca starch, potato starch, wheat starch, sugar, salt, soy protein, etc. if NOT fillers?

Lydette - I wouldn't give this to my diabetic cat, not with all those starches included. My civvie cat who won't eat anything but grain-free dry, yes, I might get her to try it, but no FF broth for Alice!

tapioca starch, potato starch, wheat starch are thickeners, not fillers. A filler would serve no purpose.
Sugar, salt and maybe soy protein are for taste. Frequently pet food is flavored for the caretaker, not the pet

I believe someone on fb recently checked this out and said that it's low carb. It's just not a complete meal and they all contain fish, so it should only be a weekly treat and not something new to feed.

  My brother always jokes that I keep enough cat food stocked up that if there were ever a disaster, I'd have to resort to eating cat food.

I was curious to buy these for my cats but they are teeny portions & the same price as the appetizers that I can get in chicken only! I try to avoid fish for Heff since he has a history of urinary crystals.

OMG Kay, I just ordered 2 cases of Wellness from Chewy.com since it's on sale--and I have 2 cases of Fancy Feast!

Nutritional value aside, I think the presentation and marketing is hilarious. I showed it to my sister and my boyfriend and they were both like, "...I'd eat that."

Of course they'd eat it! Marketing for cat food (and all pet food really) is done to appeal to us humans, not what is necessarily good for our pets.

 I know...in the sample pak I received I actually think I saw a small lobster claw in it. The package design too was hysterical...gorgeous. I was in marketing for many years so even though I know all the tricks I sometimes have to stop and remind myself that the kitties don't read the packaging HA!
