Whatever is going on outside your door, wherever you are, we are not going to close.
This is a place of reason, empathy and support. You will not be abandoned, shamed or ignored.
We are all volunteers, many of us have had multiple diabetic cats and still more have been here for many years. We all started somewhere, me with my mouth hanging open in my vet's office, "You want me to do what? Poke holes in my cat and buy a magic meter while my cat just sits there?" "Why is this happening to me?"
We get new members every day and your questions won't always be answered right away. You can look for your post five minutes after asking a question and it has sunk off the bottom of the screen, under the table and down the air vent. Do NOT lose faith in us. I for example cannot give you medical advice but I patrol the New Posts sector looking for members who have received zero replies. If you see the word "bump" under your question don't worry about what that means, just know someone has cared enough to push you back above water.
In the short term don't worry about a shortage of magic beans diabetic food, it doesn't exist. Many of us feed our diabetic cats Fancy Feast cat food, something that looked like pig slop to me until I understood what my cat really needed. Available at finer stores everywhere, and Walmart too!
Diabetes can be complicated but it's not a death sentence.
And lastly you'll have to get over the "don't listen to the internet weirdos" thing you've heard about your entire life. You are home now.
