+9 Snack Options Question

I am experimenting with giving Xander a small snack at +9 to try to bring his preshot numbers down. Xander is a very finicky cat with can freshness, so if I open a can for this purpose he often doesn't want it when it comes to shot time. I've tried the mini portions such as the Sheba and Fancy Feast petites with mixed results. Would something like a few freeze dried chicken treats also work? Or perhaps the Instinct freeze dried raw? Or does it have to be wet food?

I'm aiming for only around 5-10 calories for this snack.

A snack can be any low carb food. Treats aren't very filling and you don't want your cat to expect treats all the time. Any freeze dried raw fed as is will work. Maybe avoid the ones that are heavy on the veggies and fruit like Primal brand. The litter box output might be 🤢 Air dried raw can be fed as well. Some people have luck with freezing a portion of canned food and putting the frozen chunk into the feeder to slowly defrost.

Good idea, i might first try and see if freezing it will still be "fresh" according to him. Im a little hesitant to give non wet food options since he's still a recovering crunchy food addict 😄It would definitely be an easier option but don't know if that'll contribute to his pickiness.
