SS UPDATED - I don't understand why he was in the BLUE all day yesterday and then now in RED? At midnight post BG-104, I fed him a raw food snack and just about 8-10 pellets of the "good LC" Dr Elseys food

One word. Bouncing. His amps preshot was blue but his nadir could have been green. How low he went is anybody’s guess.

• Bouncing - Bouncing is simply a natural reaction to what the cat's system perceives as a BG value that is "too low". "Too low" is relative. If a cat is used to BGs in the 200's, 300's, or higher for a long time, then even a BG that drops to 150 can trigger a "bounce". Bouncing can also be triggered if the blood glucose drops too low and/or too fast.The pancreas, then the liver, release glucogon, glycogen and counter-regulatory hormones. The end result is a dumping of "sugar" into the bloodstream to save the cat from going hypoglycemic from a perceived low. The action is often referred to as "liver panic" or "panicky liver". *Usually*, a bounce will clear kitty's system within 3 days (6 cycles).

Went low when? After midnight? Why would he go low when he had a significant snack?

Why can't I keep him in the blue?

I thought the idea was to get his BG numbers in a "normal" zone?

Until he gets used to blue he will bounce. Some cats bounce all the way to otj. It’s one of the most frustrating things about fd. It took Max about 9 months or longer to stop bouncing as much. If you look at other spreadsheets you will see lots of it and then something just clicks.

It is. It’s harder for cats on SLGS because if the nadir is 100-150 you hold the dose. I not fur tge 104 on 9/8 I would have said increase.
