I know you can do it Elian! Don't stress your momma bean! Any way you can give him a PM +9 meal? That might cause Mr. P to show up and bring down his AM numbers.

Thanks Wendy - I leave food out for all three to nibble at night. And they do. I just hold off for the two hours leading up to his ampg.

Elian brought it down, all right..... to fiftyfreakinfive +3!!!! And I did remember that he's not on insulin so no worries of a hypo. Woohoo!

OK try this for tomorrow - DON'T take an AMBG test, just skip it altogether and just take a +2 or +3 test and let's start the day with that instead! Let's see what that does for him tomorrow. OK!

He's at 63 pmbg. He does great all day except first thing in the morning. I leave food out at night and open another can during the night if the 3 bowls are empty. Maybe I'll make sure he has a snack a few hours before his ambg - we don't test until 9:30 am/pm. I'll give him a snack around 6:30 and see if that helps.

I was thinking the same thing as others on the reason for the "high" number at amps. Google "dawn phenomenon" related to human diabetes. Basically, no snack at night, BG goes low, causes a teeny bounce, and a higher BG upon waking that makes no logical sense. The "fix" is a late night snack or middle of the night snack to avoid the odd low number while you are sleeping.
But regardless, when 125 is the highest number you see, life is pretty good.

I open a can for E and his brothers before bed and if bowls are empty during the night I refill. Of course I have no way of knowing how much if it he's actually eating but I have caught him nibbling during the night. I already set my alarm for a 7:00 am feeding that I'll oversee to make sure he eats before his 9:30 am test.

Either that, or test him an hour or two after breakfast. The aren't any rules on when the tests have to happen while he's on trial. Most people do them at what used to be amps and pmps. But I think that's due to routine and habit more than for any other reason.
Basically, you're looking at ten more tests before you put the party hat on him.
