Responding in today's condo so as not to bump up an old one. Do you poke freehand with a lancet or use a lancing device? I guess you use a wad of cotton or tissue under the ear as support/buffer between your finger and her ear?We are using 26 gauge lancets, and were doing well up to a few days ago. This morning I used the water-filled pill bottle with warmer water than usual and left it on longer, and got a drop on first try. I think I've also been too tentative in fear of hurting her - which ends up with multiple pokes, much worse than a single firm one. Hopefully I'll do better now.
Freehand, with a cotton pad under the ear. Her right ear bleeds a lot easier than the left one, so I suspect it might be that my angle, being right-handed, doesn’t work great on that side. With the right ear I can get good pokes but with the left it’s either teeny tiny beads that even ear milking can’t make big enough (and she HATES when I do it) or a gusher if I’m too close to the vein.Responding in today's condo so as not to bump up an old one.
