Thanks for the kind words about my "fur shot" yesterday. I like that idea to just think of it as a fur shot. Amps 100, not bad for no insulin last night. She went out back this morning for a quick bite of grass. It's cloudy, breezy, chilly and looks like rain here today. I fed her 2 slices of turkey for breffis and she wants more. I put out a little of her kibble, and she walked away from it! Both LB's have been used (she pees in one and poos in another one) I've put out some canned food covered with real turkey, so we'll see what she does with that. Fingers and paws crossed! Going to try to hold her to 2 set mealtimes today in hopes that will help with the transitioning. I'll be gone a lot of the day, so that will make it easier. It's physical therapy and bloodwork day for DSiL's father, and then we'll probably grab some lunch. I made her shot time a half hour earlier again, since I was up and she was hungry, so we're now at 830.

Nice AMPS for Muffin today...that is really a +24, right? Very nice. Good luck with the turkey eating...hope she will eventually find that she likes the wet... :mrgreen:

Great AMPS!

Fingers and paws crossed that the turkey entices her to eat some wet food. She's definitely making some good progress these last few days. :smile:

Yeah, is really a +24. She ate the 2 extra pieces of turkey that were next to the canned food covered in turkey, but she won't eat the turkey off the top. She's torn right now between the small pile of kibble and the turkey she can smell next to it. :lol: Is kind of funny to watch! So far, she's opting for neither, but smelling the kibble and eyeing the turkey :lol: :lol: Very promising tho, that she's turning down the kibble - I've finally found something she likes better! Hoping she'll at least figure out she can paw the turkey off the canned and eat it that way. Oh BOOO! She's eating kibble, but there are only about 10 pieces out.

hey, muffin...i'm not sure it's true but lotsa folk say that the wet food really helps me look more svelte in my binks-kini...big incentive for me!

AMPS looks really good after the "fur shot". Don't worry about it, I'm sure you were just trying to gather numbers on the turkey as opposed to the kibble.

I could be wrong, but from experience with the similarly anti-canned Weeble, she always chose the kibble, which is why I picked it up when I offered anything else. You might want to just stick with stuffing her with Turkey for the meal and wait until she gets used to eating it. Then kibble later, then turkey. I've even found that I've "tainted" some meaty treat by putting it on wet food--that she then stopped eating it for a few days.

I totally understand the desire to make it all happen at once, but everytime I went faster then she was ready, I ended up back where I started (swearing and pulling out my hair). They are creatures of habit, our little dry food addicts, and make no mistake, they take every opportunity to remind you they're in charge. I usually gave myself a certain number of days of one change (anywhere from 3-7) before trying something else. For example, I've currently moved the small blob of wet food on the overnight kibble from the side of bowl (7 days) into the bowl. After 7 days I'm going to make the blob bigger. By the way, she currently won't eat any of the kibble that has been touched by the wet...

Blah, blah, anyways, I think you and Muffin are doing great!

87 @ +1.5 Wish I could stay and test more but I have to run. Won't be home til probably +6 but will test when I get here.

Amanda - that's a really good point about going slow, maybe that's what happened with the chicken. I took the remaining turkey off the wet food for her and now she's eating it. So I'll just try to stick with turkey for several days and see how it goes. Will get to store today to get the behind-the-counter-deli-better-for-her-hopefully-with-fewer-additives turkey today. Thanks so much!

Just got home and every bit of food up here is gone - the FF dry, the Wellness Core dry, and the canned food - bowl is licked clean. I'm sure Muffin didn't eat all that - Kibby probably ate most of it, but I don't know for sure. 116 is pretty low for her lately at this point in the cycle, so I'm not sure how low she went. Tomorrow I will be able to stay with her and find out how the turkey is doing for her.

That's funny...two litter boxes. Muffin must be quite the lady to be so particular about her litter box routines :-D

Maybe she'd like some faux muffins made of turkey! Hey, Muffin, you come to the party tonight and we'll serve up some wonderful food (no kibble, though).

How about a nice turkey burrito? Turkey as the wrap and wet food in the middle. :-D Glad she's been taking some baby steps away from her comfort kibble.

Oh, another turkey lover. Checks is wild about turkey. Also deli ham, but I don't know what's in it. Probably sugar of some sort.
Anne I just read yesterday's thread. We all do that on occasion. I did a bad shot on Checks today and he showed it.
Muffin had a beautiful run of numbers today. :-D
Turkey today, canned food....soon. :-D

Thanks Barb, sorry Checkers' numbers were a little off today. Muffin did surprisingly well for missing the shot last night - I can only assume it was due to the turkey and the lack of kibble. Probably good timing on my part :lol: Muffin likes ham, too, but not as much as turkey, and I think most ham does have sugar in it.

pmps 85 Holding nice and steady!

I bought plain oven baked turkey from the deli today. She's sniffing and licking it, but looking at me like.."something's wrong with this Mom!" I looked at the package of ham she is crazy over and realized that it's honey smoked turkey! OH NOES! From her numbers today, it doesn't seem like there's much honey involved, but maybe I'll go back to the deli tomorrow and try smoked turkey. At least there won't be honey! ohmygod_smile
 
I stopped myself from telling you that might happen. Happened to me, too.

Did you get slices? Or a whole turkey?
