78 +5. Do I need to be concerned at all about him starting his days a bit high but coming back down after eating or is that the norm?

I guess this must be the norm for him. Honestly, he brings himself down nicely that I wouldn't get too concerned.....just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Thanks Hillary - that's what I was hoping. He seems to be very predictable these days.

I think we're all so accustomed to getting our cats down under 100 with insulin, we forget that 70-130 is the normal range for a healthy cat. If his BG drops down after food, his pancreas is working perfectly. No worries! Also, my vet told me that, most commonly, the highest glucose concentrations in cats usually occur in the mornings and the lowest in the evenings. It's not a hard rule but it is more common for their BG to be higher in the morning. Elian sounds pretty normal. :-D

Jess - your posts yesterday and today make perfect sense and Elian has been very consistent with his high mornings/low nights. As long as he continues this way I'm fine with it.

I'm pleased to share whatever information I learn! Most of all, I'm just happy Elian is doing well. You have put so much care into his recovery, no one deserves a successful remission more!
