Mogs did a search for sublingual buprenorphine. I’m wondering if you can get it from a compounding pharmacy? That’s where I got mine. I’ve got someone checking to see if the injectable can be used sublingually. It’s crazy to have to go daily to the vet for shots. Must be costing you a fortune too. :bighug::bighug: For your sister.

A fortune! I've got 5 cats at home and 15 ex stray dogs that now I take care of them. Plus Naomi's visits to the vet which are at least monthly. But I love them all and don't complain!

I need to do a search for that. Buprenorphine to address pain caused by pancreatitis? What about tramadol? Is that good at all?

There is a drug used for arthritis and I’m blanking right now on the name. It’s supposed to be given in the muscle but works sub-q and many use here. I will remember. eventually.

Just came back home. Naomi was sitting in the kitchen in the same place I used to feed her in the good old days. I put her food down and she ate. She demanded her food. Today I started Zofran 2 mg every eight 8 hours. The night dose is to be given in an hour.
Oooh!

Everything imaginable is being crossed in the Shire right now... :nailbiting:

Hi
Loading dose is a shot every 4 days for a total of 8 shots-then depending on the cats need you can give it as early as every 4 days or as long as 4 weeks but no more or repeat loading dose

Adequan absolutely does not raise bg.

dose it like this- Dre is 18 pounds and my vet rounds up (you don't have to)
so I round up to 20X2-40 Dre dose is 0.04
It is way easier using a 1ml syringe for adequan
Adequan is worth every penny it costs--you will see:)

Thank you Elise & jayla -n-Drevon!

I'll discuss this with my vet. It's very good if it doesn't raise the bg because this seemed to be the reason my vet rejected Adequan as an option

Just to make sure. Adequan is injected or given orally?

I get so frustrated with these vets that poo poo adequan...I started Dre when he was 15ish and he is now 21 and still goes up and down stairs and it also relieves some inflamation.
I don't think most are trained as it is a very popular with horses.

So I do the first 8 shots every 4 days, and then continue depending on Naomi. Each shot has to be 4 days apart from the other.
If the last shot was a month ago I'll have to repeat the loading dose. Is that correct?

Yes---you will want to gauge how she is doing and you will find the sweet spot to shoot before she is having trouble. Many people start with 3-4 weeks after loading dose unless it is clear that is too longer Naomi.
My boys were 4 weeks for over a year but I started them before that had noticeable pain.
The sooner you start the better as it prolongs the onset of the inevitable arthritis etc...
You can play with the dose without worry-sometimes Dre can go a week or more and sometimes day #4 can't come soon enough:cat:

Thank you so much jayla-n-Drevon!

It's a relief to know other people have used adequan and find it safe for their cats.

Can I get back to you if I have any other questions after we start Adequan?
