Good start to the day for Cosmo. He had a good overnight...again finishing all his overnight food before +3. I put out more and that was done by +6. This time, no thirdses for Cosmo. I tested and then made him wait till morning
He was hanging out on the couch watching tennis when I woke up, looking happy and alert. I think he has been making some small progress on his SS (?) and looking forward to the next phase
Ketone strip negative. We have been testing them weeklyish our +3 test was more challenging than expected with Cosmo moving his head around... it was like playing one of those carnival games with the big foam hammer. What was that called? Wack a mole?
If he could just ease down a little, tiny bit more...maybe dump that red cloud for a pink one? I think that might suit him a tad better...but really some blues might even look better on a handsome boy such as Cosmo...
I'm so glad to see he's looking happy and alert! That's gotta count for something! How's he doing with the megacolon? Is he able to eat any less of the HC food...or is the amount he's getting fixed? I'm outta my element on that one...so I'm hoping the insulin will gradually be increased to accommodate the increased amount of carby foods he has to eat for his megacolon issue...

Really great! We changed his food regimen to the following on 8/27:
AM and PM Preshot: 3/4 can gastro wet
Free feed 1/8 cup gastro kibble, 1/8 cup MD kibble during day and overnight. He has been over eating this mixture and running out early, so most times we top up with MD kibble.
he has been taking good, soft, formed, large daily BMs without issue! Yay!
Tomorrow, we are going to half and half his wet food with MD too and keep his dose for a few more days. Monitor litter box and go from there.
I was wondering if Luci could give Cosmo her lemon tree when she is finished with it? I’d love to trade the red/pinks in for a new colour

So happy to hear Cosmo has been doing well with the food switch, and paws crossed the next step goes just as smoothly. You're doing such a great job working on getting his numbers down while dealing with his megacolon challenges. We are cheering you both on.
We took a +2 and he came down more than 100, so DH set an alarm for later and he was at 385 at +7. Possible we saw some yellows or blues in there somewhere? Cosmo did what he does now and finished all his food at +2, so he probably protected himself out of a low.
I am one of the lucky people who have to work on a holiday Monday, so I am up early this am anyhow! Yay? Cosmo is doing well, let’s hope he protected himself out of a bounce. Nice to see him under 400 though. It is his new happy and alert place to be. I wonder if he can start borrowing Luci’s Lemon tree with the food adjustment starting later today @Sue and Luci
He ate his 1/4 cup of overnight kibble mix (half gastro, half MD) by +2 (after already eating 3/4 can gastro wet at preshot)so DH put out some more in between then and now, and looks like there is some left of the 2nd batch.
Today we start half and half on his wet food (half gastro, half MD). Trying to figure out how much lower carb we can get into Cosmo’s regime without triggering a mega colon episode. One week at a time
