So far, so good. A little IBD episode this morning, so less food than usual, but she seems to have recovered. So much for one less dose of Cisapride. Guess I was getting a little cocky...

I'm running out of strips so I figured now was as good a time as any to buy a new meter. This one's actually been pretty good to me, but I have a feeling it may not give a reading below 40, which is obviously really dangerous. I would prefer to have a brand I can buy strips, etc. in person because I don't trust my timing. We have a Target, CVS, Rite Aid, and pretty much everything else but a Walmart. What do you guys suggest? I would think that with my seemingly bloodless cat, one that needs the smallest amount of blood would be pretty high on my priority list.

Oh, and what's the best lancet? I'll even buy another less worthy meter if they have a good lancet. I thought I heard someone once mention their's had a clear tip so you could see where you were poking. That sounds like a nice bit of fanciness there...

Hope everyone's enjoying their long weekend!

I think the Freestyle meters require the least blood, but I heart my AccuChek Aviva. It sucks up the blood practically from across the room, so even if it needs a slightly bigger drop, at least I can get the blood onto the strip before kitty moves. The strips are pricey, but the upside is that I hardly ever waste one due to not enough blood. I use Freestyle meters too because my mom sends me free strips sometimes (she is diabetic and gets extras with her insurance) and you can't beat free. I like the AccuChek a lot better, though.

i've used the freestyle or freestyle flash since day one and i love both of them. never had a problem. they're both within points of my vet's alpha trak at low numbers (less than abt. 80). however, i had an opportunity to use an AccuCheck Aviva once. libby's right. it'll suck blood from across the room!
