See Monkey BG today. To decrease the multitude of bouncing, I adopt the method for monitoring BG first 6 hours every hour to see the speed of BG movement.

If it drop quickly like 50 ml per hour. Then I feed small meals (only can food) to Monkey. If the drop stop or increase, then I don't feed and monitor once per three hours and wait until PMPS. (Or I should give very small snack? because Monkey have very good appetite)

Today I applied that method strictly I fed at +1, +2, +3, +4 (now is +5 and I don't feed since BG stopped dropping) and I see the nadir lower than yesterday (232 vs 108 ml)

Does my method make sense? What can be improved?

So yesterday nadir was lower than today’s.
That is ok because what you have managed to do is get him down lower but not by big drops so hopefully it might stop the bouncing a bit. It is fine he hasn’t dropped as low as yesterday. It might take a few days to get him down to 108 again but better to do it slowly then to zoom down and cause another bounce.
Don’t be disappointed it doesn’t work every time but what you are doing is the right idea.

But you also need to make sure he gets basically the same amount of food each cycle. Feeding in the first half of the cycle is better because that is when the insulin is strongest and if you feed too much in the second cycle you can shorten the duration of the insulin.

If the numbers are low in the second half and you need to feed, that is fine.

Is Monkey still putting on weight?

BTW when you say he dropped 50 an hour, it is called 50 points not 50 ml. :)

It will be interesting to see how he goes over the next few cycles.

If you want to see the weight of the cats, you may find "weight of all cat" worksheet in Monkey's spreadsheet:cat:
Monkey's weight is in a dropping trend. But I don't know worry about that because he is now behaving like his normal self. And occasionally I see him jump. Maybe that is a sign of improvement of neuropathy.
Yes, it is interesting to see how he goes. Now I am being very accurate in the timing of testing. As you have suggest, I should weigh the food to make sure he gets same amount of food every day.
(I have not decide the amount yet, do you think how should I decide the amount? Also, Monkey is having good appetite that eat significantly more than other cats. Do you think I should feed him more? Also, to slow down the AM drop, do you think I should feed more at the meal after AMPS? )

Btw, Monkey's +9 is 533:(. He was never that high at +8. I think is the effect of feeding him that much. What should I do?

If Monkey is losing weight I would feed him a bit more. We don’t want him losing weight.
When he is unregulated like he is at the moment, and in high numbers, his body can’t utilise the nutrients like the other cats can, so he will need more food to make up for it.
Just try adding a couple more tablespoons a day and see if that satisfies him and maintains his weight. If it doesn’t, add a bit more.
It depends when he is looking like dropping as to when you need to feed the drop.
I think the 533 is still part of the bounce rom yesterday afternoon and this morning. We sometimes see it go back up high at the end of the bounce before it breaks, so maybe he will drop down overnight.
If his PMPs is lower by much than the 533 he may be coming off the bounce. But cats like to keep us guessing!
I’ll watch for the PMPS BG.

I agree with Bron, if Monkey is hungry please let him.

Let's hope he comes down from that bounce soon...

Have a great day!

Sigh. Oh, dear!

I really don't think it's the feeding that's bringing his numbers up this much (not unless you are feeding him high-carb food with a drizzle of honey!). It's just his body reacting, he's been in high numbers for a while recently so that's what his body is used to. Getting down to blues yesterday was great, and he still saw some movement today even if the numbers were elevated, so you're making progress overall.

Still hard to see, I know :(.

I would advise picking up some of the urine dipstick testers for ketones (they should be available at a pharmacist with other human diabetic supplies). Monkey is not prone to them as far as we know, but it's something you want to keep an eye on with him being so high, and it is easy to do at home (although it may be tricky with four cats in the house-- do you see when Monkey pees, or does he tend to be shy?).

Yes. Yes I see Monkey pees most of the time because he meows me to bring him to the toilet:rolleyes:. That's a new habit that he picked up last month.
