Did you buy a pack of pens to start? If so, you could try another one for a few days, and if no change, use up the old one first. By the way, almost everyone at one point blames the insulin, when it is really just the cat.:p Take a look that the insulin is clear, no floaties. Maybe put a thermometer in the part of fridge you sure the pen.

I tracked when I started a new cartridge (pen refill) on the spreadsheet, so I could count the days.

Hopefully it is just a matter of not having found the right dose yet… I bought just one pen locally from compounding pharmacy for $99, not really keen on buying a new one so soon. The insulin looks clear, and I keep the pen in the door of the fridge right under the butter compartment. Our fridge is set at 37F I think, so I don’t think there’s a risk of it being too hot?

Great idea tracking the start date for each new pen. I do that with my asthma kitty’s inhaler and tally up the doses so I know when to change for a new one.

Chewie, we are all blaming you! Come on!

I'd move the pen away from the door and further into the fridge. The door gets opened and not so consistent a temperature. and gets moved. It's probably OK, but a practice for going forward. I had a little plastic "glass" like shape I kept my working cartridge in.

You might want to think about buying your next insulin from Canada from Marks online. Or drive north for a day and get it OTC here.

Ok, I have it in a little plastic jar already, can easily place it further inside the fridge.
I will definitely order from Marks next time - for the first pen I wanted to start treatment ASAP and my vet had priced it out, it was indeed the best price I could get in town (even after comparing with GoodRx etc.) and it was worth it to not have to wait.

I live in Portland, OR, it would be 5.5 hours one way to reach the closest town in BC, and it will be even farther from Virginia starting in October, so I think online will be our best bet. My vet assured me that they could keep honoring prescriptions for a year following the cat’s last exam, so that will leave us a bit of leeway to find a new vet after the move.

I have plenty of questions about traveling with a diabetic kitty (one week road trip with two days of rest from Portland to Richmond) but I will ask them closer to the travel date :cat:

Testing the new travel kennels…

I had that document saved, it’s so good! My main question is about how to move the shooting time progressively to accommodate for 3h of time difference over 7 days (from PST to EST).

PMPS 361 - still pancaking

I also had to move Neko's dose from pacific to central time, plus even earlier for vet office check in. What might work for you is moving shot time up 15 minutes per cycle, or 1/2 hour once per day. You don't need to start until after the first day of the road trip, and you should be back on the new schedule when you get there.
