Re: 9/5 Aenie AMPS 238

He is doing OK Libby. He acts 100% normal and has his usual ferocious appetite. The right ear still produces black gook every few days but not that much and I keep them clean. The ONLY thing that has me concerned now is that I have found a lump on his back. It is between the shoulder blades a little to the left and is approximately the size of the top of a tennis ball. It is round and flat and it don't seem to bother him if I squeeze it. I had noticed a very small lump there about 6 months ago. It was only the size of a dime and when I went to show it to the vet neither one of us could find it. Darn if I didn't find it again the next day though and then I forgot about it until I recently noticed it is still there and has grown a LOT. I am wondering if it is just from the insulin injections because it is in the area where I shoot. I have begun to make sure I shoot to the right of it and not into it anymore. I have done some research on lumps on cats backs and from what I have found it is usually a rare case that it is cancerous. I know I need to take him back to the vets and I will one day in the near future. Anybody else ever find these kinds of lumps on their furballs?

Concerned

Lucy once had a place that was like thickened skin where I inject her (scruff). I started moving around the scruff more and it went away. If you think it's anything other than that, I would take him in. The vet should be able to get some cells from it and you'll know right away whether it's anything to worry about. If it's growing, I would get it checked out sooner rather than later.

That is what I think it is too, more like thickened skin than a lump. I just don't know how I didn't notice it had grown so much. I really don't think it's anything serious but we will get it checked out during his next check-up.
