Hey Tarragon....you can't hang out on the top of the cat tree all day. You do need to come down and have a bite to eat.

Hope T starts feeling better and getting back to normal.

it's recommended that kitties recovering from DKA consume 1.5 times the calories required to maintain body weight.
 
You can also try finger feeding him some food and see if he is up to eating after a few bites. How much ondansetron are you giving and how often? What else is he on again? is he hydrated?
 
C'mon down from there T....you don't need to be so extra sweet. Will Tarragon eat cooked chicken? Or baby food? Funny isn't it, how they always want the 'good' stuff?!!!!! I think Sienne's idea of dousing his food with tuna water is a good one.

I had surgery myself the end of July and had a pretty terrible anesthesia reaction (nauseaus and vomiting and vertigo for 3 days) Anyway, I was on ondansetron and it made me really sleepy. It certainly cured my ickies, but I was a zombie. Maybe that's keeping him from eating?

Tarragon, you and Zener are quite the pair. Please eat so you can have energy to do the things you like to do. I tell that to Zener, he needs to eat so he can patrol his yard. :smile:

The thing with a DKA recovery though is calories needed. Is tuna high enough in calories? Can you start supplementing his food with syringe feeding? The Feline Assisted Feeding group on yahoo has instructive videos and articles. A lot of cats owners are there due to pancreatitis. Try finger feeding if you aren't up to syringe feeding.

Tarragon is practicing selective self-starvation. It's great to see how well trained his humans are :lol: :lol: :lol: I only laugh because I'm manipulated 24-7 @-)

hi melissa - i hope tarragon caved in and ate the foods tonight! i think punkin's greatest temptation is rotisserie chicken. oh man, he loves that stuff.

just cheering you on. we want tarragon feeling good again!
 
Hi Mellissa, just stop in to see how's Tarragon today. I knew that he's not eating much today, hoping he'll eat more & getting better tmr :smile:
