9/30 Radar - a dose increase

my last post was last weekend when my sister's cat @Lovie's Mom came out of remission. It's been a busy week of trying to help wrap her head around taking care of Lovie from three time zones away. I'm so glad to be able to help her, remembering all too well how hard it was at the beginning our journey.

This week we started our trial of cyproheptadine as an appetite stimulant. The beginning of the week went well and he was a ravenous monster eating everything we gave him all day and all night. Then his eating tapered off and by the end of the week he was back in the reluctant eater club. I wonder if all that eating just didn't agree with his system. We had to help him get enough calories with our syringe several times this weekend. We also added the Ondansetron back to his pile of daily medications and that seems to have also helped him eat more on his own on Sunday.

The dose was increased Sunday night so we'll see if that helps bring those numbers down more.

Good luck with the new dose. I hope Radar's appy picks up and he keeps eating for you. I hope your sister is doing better dealing with her cat being out of remission. Sending prayers.

Good luck with the increase. I also hope Radars appetite improves for you soon. Although I’m not happy for you that both your and your sisters cats have diabetes, I think it would be so great to have each other to look to for advice and to bounce ideas off of each other :)

I hope Radars appy gets better. How is sister's cat doing? Will she join us here?
Between my busy schedule this week at work and her busy schedule, there's been little time to help her also learn how to navigate the FDMB. We first concentrated on the basics of care and learning how often to test and when. I'll be talking with her tonight or tomorrow and we can take that next step with maintaining the ss and learning a bit about what the numbers mean. We're taking it all one step at a time. :)

Thanks for your kind words. My sister and I actually think it's kinda funny that we both have diabetic cats now. We talk often - sometimes several times in a day. She is incredibly grateful that I can help her feel more secure with giving Lovie the best care possible. :):):cat::cat:

I think if one of my sisters had a diabetic cat we would do the same! Looks like Radar is gearing up for an increase!
