I have to go through the glucometer to see how Tidus' BG's were while I was gone but from when I had called a few times to check in he went from the lowest 98 to the highest in the high 200's. My vet was "closed" yesterday so I don't have all the data from his stay (I was just able to pick him up) but I know they did not follow TR and did not always give him insulin (depending on how high/low his BG was).

So...I'm basically back at the beginning. When I left he was on 4.75u and the vet I don't think gave more than 2 units at any time. I gave him 2 units last night. I wanted to give him insulin but was not sure on if I should go right back up to 4.745u and figured to stay with a dose closest to what he was getting the past week. Do I gradually increase him from where he's at now or could I go right back to 4.75u?

When I've reduced Gabby's dose when I'm traveling, I've not reduced as much as your vet did and I've gone right back to her usual dose. Are you sure that 2.0u was the maximum dose that Tidus received? I also think it would be helpful to get the log from the vet with Tidus' numbers. Let me see if I can get some additional input.

You might put a ? on your title and say "dosing advice" so it alerts the dosing advisors. So sorry you are starting over, but Tidus will be back at it in no time.

I heard back from Jill. Her input was much the same as my reaction. If Tidus dropped into greens on the 2.0u, I'd keep the 2.0u this cycle and use the opportunity to gather some data on how Tidus is doing on this dose. If you can get the records from the vet, it will be helpful to know if the drop to 98 was earlier or later during Tidus' stay with the vet.

Hi guys .. no dosing advice from me, but welcome back from vacation! Hopefully tidus continues to show off more greens for you on this dose .. have a great day guys!

Re: 9/3 Tidus dosing ?

The 98 was the first test the morning after I had left him and he was not given any insulin. I just spoke to the vet tech and she said that if he was over 200 they would give 4.75u and if he was under 200 they gave 2u. I have not had a chance to go through the glucometer and get all the readings (they used the one I use so his numbers are all recorded)

Not sure if this helps in what dose I should give him this am.
