My DP took Pedro to the vet's first thing this morning. He has been acting a bit differently over the past couple of days and then early this AM started throwing up and wouldn't move. I kind of figured we might be going to see something given that his BG hasn't been responding over the past 3 days. Could be his pancreatitis or Cushing's issues.

Amy & Pedro - here's hoping all goes well today at the vet. Keep us posted & lots of hugs for all of you guys!

So vet "thinks" that it is probably his pancreatitis. When we had the 4 week follow up bloodwork done about 3 weeks ago his FPL test was still >50. Other blood values had improved.
He is starting him on IV fluids and going to give him a shot of bupe (he is on oral now), anti-nasuea meds and monitor him and decide if he will do any other tests.

He doesn't think he is having a bad reaction to the trilostane as lots of other signs would be there so he isn't going to run the ACTH push tests - which is fine by me.

So I am really second quessing myself now. This past weekend I had begun to add a very small amount of cooked 99% fat free chicken in to his diet. And now if this is his pancreatitis flaring even more, I feel like I did this to him.

So, if we get him through what ever this is, I will do a Dr. Lisa consult. I was waiting to contact her till I had all my lab results from the IM vet and a response from Iam's about their "as fed" numbers on his prescription food. I just got my lab copies yesterday and of course Iam's has not gotten back to me. Forget Iam's, I'm not waiting.

You guys are the best~

Amy,

Now for Pete's sake , don't go blaming yourself! That's my specialty. ;)

I know that with dogs, too much protein can cause pancreatitis to flare. Perhaps the chicken is too much for him?

Hope he is feeling better very soon.

do not go blaming yourself, you love Pedro and are doing the best for him. If the chicken is too much then you will stop giving it to him, but mistakes are a human thing. We live and learn and Pedro certainly doesn't blame you so don't feel bad.

Aww, if anything this probably made Pedro smile!! ((( Amy ))), it's hard enough when they're not feeling well, you can't blame yourself. Glad you got him in there before the weekend and there are things they can do to help with his discomfort.

The vet is going to keep him for a day or so to keep him on fluids, etc and keep an eye on him. Poor guy hates it there but they are really good with him.
We decided to still go up to Maine (since Earl is just going to brush by) and Pedro is stuck in the vet's. He is going to be so peeved he didn't get to go with us. We will be able to check in with the vet and get home pretty fast if needed. Won't be able to do any updates here till we get back.

Thanks for sending healing vines and I hope you all have a good weekend (and Earl is behaving if your in his path)

Poor Pedro, sending vines and snowflakes to get better soon. No beating yourself up here, it is not allowed. You are doing your best for Pedro. :YMHUG:

So, you took him to stay at the ver=t and went on vacation without him, Yes, he will make you pay when you get home.

(((Amy & Pedro))) I am glad he is getting the fluids....poor little guy. I hope he starts to feel better real soon...and maybe he won't really know that you are going away. I hope you all have a good weekend...glad you got him there right away Amy...
Sending healing vines to Pedro....

sending healing vines to Pedro. The vet will take good care of him. Don't blame yourself, I doubt the chicken had anything to do with it, but even if it did, how were you to know that?
