No surprise, because of the nice day yesterday https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...2-250-5-95-6-67-pmps-122.267897/#post-2995872
Is there anyone (or anything posted) on the board who goes camping (RV-ing) and/or traveling with a diabetic cat? We have not been away on vacation for two years and have decided to go. I can’t leave Max, so he has to go with us. I’m trying to prepare for that. We are going to our usual place on the outer banks. Nothing much around there except the ocean. We will be in a campground with electricity and a small store that sells mostly only souvenirs, so I have a lot to pack for Max. The internet isn’t the best either. Max doesn’t like traveling at all. We took him once a long time ago (before diagnosed) and he was miserable. I was hoping for some helpful pointers and advice. I don’t want to forget anything that he might need and want to make him as comfortable as possible so we can also enjoy our time away. I thought I came across a post about camping once before, but can’t find it now.

Thanks Carla, I will check that out. Any advice would help! We are leaving on Sept 15th and staying 4 days. Decided not to book a week this time, just in case Max drives us crazy…. or we drive him crazy.:cat:

Yes, we've had people take RV vacations with their diabetic cat, or even live in an RV with a diabetic cat. This post is one such example - I do remember Oliver well (post #11). I drove Neko 3 days each way to Colorado State University for SRT. After that she went on a few days vacation in Victoria (hotel stay). She originally hated car travel, but the 10 days away to/from and at Fort Collins cured that. :p This document is from someone who commuted between cities for work with her FD cat, compiling information from a few of us who have done FD cat travel.

Thank you so much, this is great information. I’ve bookmarked it so I can go back over it again when I’m packing. It’s good to hear of positive experiences from you and some of the others. Hopefully Max will adapt to it. I’ve been trying to take him out to our RV some and just let him walk around in there. He likes to hide and doesn’t care for it at all. He’s such a scaredy-cat. As long as he doesn’t accidentally get out, everything should be okay. I think that’s my worst fear about it all. I’ve put a thermometer in the fridge to test that and all is good with the temperature. Thanks again for this info, this will help a lot.

Max came down to blue today, but looks like he’s bounced again. I don’t think he will ever stop bouncing, but if he wants to do it at night for a while, I ain’t complaining.;)

Sorry just seeing this, we went camping on the weekend and took Molly she loves to go. The drive there not so much! I bring extra everything for her, toys her box scratch post. Lots of food, extra insulin, syringes strips and HC food just in case.

Thank you! Hopefully Max will like it too.
