Simon seems to be back to having higher AMPS again. The only difference is that I have only been giving him 1 mini-meal at +7 overnight. When his numbers were going so low after the PMPS, I gave him 2 mini-meals, 1 at +2 and the other at +7. Maybe I'll try the 2 meals again tonight to see if that makes a difference. I am off today and tomorrow so I'll be trying to get lots of errands done. Today, I am going to tackle the Walmart parking lot and buy some Special Kitty food. I haven't tried that with Simon so I'll be interested in seeing if he will like it. I'm also going to go to Petco to find Natural Balance food. My mom thinks I'm crazy with all this stuff -- she is starting to say that my kitties come before her. To make her feel better, I'm going to go sofa shopping with her this afternoon. I also have physical therapy scheduled today to see if I can get some relief from my rotator cuff issues. Busy day but so much better than tbp! Happy Thursday!

Morning Georgia, I hope going back to the two meals experiment will help show if there's a difference in Simon's AMPS. He has a nice +3! I hear ya on the Walmart parking lot. It fills up fast no matter how early I tackle it. It's not unusual for me to visit two petstores in one day either! :lol: Some don't carry all the brands I need, and then :lol: better prices at times at PetsMart vs. Petco. Good luck with pt for your rotator cuff, ouch! I had some severe shoulder pain/rotator cuff earlier in the year, and pt sure helped me a lot. I had a couple good steroid shots in the shoulder first to relieve the pain before I could do the pt. Enjoy your day and oh no with poor Mom thinking she comes second. I'm glad she gets you, too, with the sofa shopping.

Great +3! Good luck with the food and meal experiment. Enjoy your 4 day weekend! I always go to Walmart at 7 am on Saturday or Sunday. No one is there and all you have to fight with are the stockers. I keep thinking about trying special kitty, but Tarragon is soooo picky that I know it would be a waste of money. Maybe I will try it.

That's funny about your mom. Simon rules the world, so she should just get used to it. :lol: Enjoy your afternoon with her. Sounds like a blast.

I'm interested in how the timing of mini meals affects bg. I know ECID, but I'm experimenting a bit with timing on the auto feeder, so I'll be watching for your results.

poor mom! but it's like having children, the kitties kinda do come first! don't tell her though. :lol:

i wonder if you moved the +7 feeding earlier so the insulin was still having some strength to it if that would improve the amps. that or reducing the amount of the +7 to just a tiny bit.

good luck playing with the factors to see what helps simon the most! it's always a bit of detective work, isn't it?

I'm sure most of us have heard the "your crazy, its just a cat" line before........people are entitled to their opinions though.

I went to walmart yesterday at 8am and it was absolutely EMPTY!!! I loved it! Good luck with the special kitty.

Nice numbers for Simon today, and enjoy your days off Georgia!

Simon found the green lagoon!!! I found, and I don't know why, that when I gave Champ some 0% carb food, 0.5 oz. raw chicken breast that I nuke for 10 seconds in my case, at his +9.5 or +10 of his PM cycle that his AMPS are better. I don't know why this happens, but it works almost all the time...unless he's having a hard bounce.

Just as a note, I think it was the Special Kitty that Champ was allergic to that caused his hive reaction. Which is a shame because it's so nice and inexpensive and he really liked it. Now I have to just stick to every flavor of the FF which is all he wants!!

I posted on Patty and Champ's condo that I was in awe of Patty shooting a 63. Well, I guess Simon wants to test my nerves and copy Champ. I went ahead and gave him the insulin. I have to leave for a couple of hours but DH is here and will test while I am gone and will feed as needed. Simon usually responds well to his lc food but I have mc and hc on hand.

I went to Walmart today and wouldn't you know, they only had a couple of cans of Special Kitty chicken. All the rest of the Special kitty food had gravy in it so I am assuming it is not lc. By the way, Simon loved the Special Kitty. Patty, I will watch and see if he scratches more now that I know Champ had more allergies with the food.

Julie, thanks for the advice on his +7 meal. I might tweak it a little and make his meal a little earlier instead of giving 2 meals. We'll see...all an experiment.

Hi Georgia, wow on shooting the 64, go Simon, and great DH can test. I find the same problem at my Walmart with not being able to buy the SK flavors Maggie likes. Either people are buying like crazy, or they're not stocking enough of it, as most kitties want the gravy perhaps!

DH did a good job testing and feeding while I was gone. He gave MC food after the +1 and LC after the +2.5. Nice surf tonight...we'll see where he is going in a little bit.

We tried Cosequin, but it didn't seem to do very much.
My vet litterally, goes by the book. The book said to be given by a veterinary professional only, unless the owner can be taught to give he injection. So, I kind of begged, and he spent about 5 minutes of our appointment time, showing me where and how to find the muscle.


Let me know if Simon likes the Special Kitty. I could use to save some $$. This FF is getting expensive.

The AMPS #s will be the last to come down. Blackie's the same way, too. Slightly higher AMPS #s, and her PMPS #s are seeing more :mrgreen: s lately. Hang in there. It'll happen! He's looking very nice! :mrgreen:

Dropping a little from 45 minutes ago. I broke out the HC food and gave him a tsp. I also have the automatic feeder ready to go off throughout the rest of the night.
