Good Morning LLand! First, THANK YOU AGAIN for everyone that jumped in to hold my hand thru yesterday. It was such a WONDERFUL gift....

I sure hope we don't have to EVER relive the whole day we had yesterday. After all KT's excitement, DH's repeated paralysis attacks and a brush fire burning equivalent to 3 blocks away, I was totally exhausted. About 10 minutes to 10pm, I hear screaming outside - run out and discover that neighbor's 4 year old child is missing. SO - we gather flashlights, wake the rest of the neighborhood and start looking. By the grace of God, we found him within 15 minutes 'petting the goggies' about 2 blocks away. Those 'goggies' aren't friendly but HE didn't know that - neither did the goggies 'cos they were at the fence licking his hands.

KT's Green Swim 9/28

I think we're finally getting somewhere and his body's figuring out we are NOT giving up fighting this fight! I think he got close to that green again last night on that 2.0u dose if the 156 at +11 is any indicator of ANYTHING after yesterday!

+11 - 156
AMPS - 213
2.5U at 9:30am

Re: 9/29 KT +11-156! AMPS 213

Hi guys .. dang on yesterday's craziness! I hope today is much, much calmer for you .. I hop that KT comes down from the yellow floor nice and easy .. I won't be around tomorrow so have a great weekend!

Re: 9/29 KT +11-156! AMPS 213

Just a little bit lower, KT. Slowly though!

What a day! You could write a book!! Here's hoping today is nice, calm, catch your breath kind of day.

Re: 9/29 KT +11-156! AMPS 213 +1-256

+1 today is 256 - includes food onboard in this number altho' only 3 temptations treats and ffeast turkey/giblets. I think he's a little bouncy today after all those greens yesterday. He was probably close to that late last night too.

Thanks for all the visits today! Hope everyone's day is wonderful!

Re: 9/29 KT +11-156! AMPS 213 +1-256 +4-234

+4 - 234

This is probably result of only 2/2u's yesterday....went back up to 2.5 this morning.

Re: 9/29 KT AMPS 213 +1-256 +4-234 +7-284 +10-266 QUES

+7 - 284
+10 - 266

QUESTION - KT seems to be showing a nadir at about +10 lately. How does this work into a 12 hour shoot schedule? If his lowest point is at 10 hours, is he yet needing more at +12? I understand the nadir at +6-ish or 'mid cycle' but I'm having trouble understanding a +10.

Edit in red

Hi Lyresa,

Wow, what a day you had yesterday!! (I was able to read, but not reply yesterday) It looks like KT is on a bounce today...

Casey had, on occation, gone lower later in the cycle too. I am no expert, but I believe(d) it was because she was coming down/off a bounce. Someone with more experience will probably be along soon and will either affirm or contradict my assumption.

Hopefully he is, or will be soon, comeing off this bounce!!

Yes it WAS crazy - I'm still tired. He's been clearing the bounces quicker lately but we've never been that low. Thanks for your answer...

Some cats have a late nadir. In some ways, it gives you more license to shoot low because you know that the numbers are heading back up at shot time. Maybe it was Jill who explained that if you think of the "usual" cycle as a clock, shot time is at 12 and nadir is at 6. With a late nadir, you move the clock around so nadir is at 12 and shot time is at 6. In other words, everything is shifted by 6 hours.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Sienne. I have read and reread it and I'm still not sure that I understand it. Won't there come a time when the shot at +12 is too much? If it takes 10 hours to reach the lowest point then there's upward movement to complete the curve, didn't that morning injection last past the 12 hours? I'm not sure I'm even ASKING my question in a way that makes sense. Is this where those low double digit numbers come in that cause the need for a decrease in dosage?

I sure HOPE that made sense - I can't seem to connect my brain and the keyboard too well tonight....

if a cat has a late nadir, then they usually have a late onset too. So if the "typical" nadir is +6 and the "typical" onset is +2, then a cat with a +10 nadir might have onset at +6. That means if you shoot at +12, the cat still has 6 hours for the number to climb before the insulin even starts to work. It doesn't drop for the whole 10 hours, it still drops for the typical 5-6 hours but the drop starts later in the cycle.

Both of those help me understand it.....thank you. Does the nadir change because of dosage or just be whatever it needs to be for that cycle?

How is nadir pronounced?
