9/29, Corduroy, Question about pancreatitis?

Good morning fellow cat lovers! ~O)

We had to stall a bit this morning on Corduroy's AMPS because I was afraid to have a repeat of Monday's episode. So, after waiting until his AMBG was 121, I decided to give him .05 units (between a drop and .10). I did multiple tests to see how much this would yield in comparison with the .10 before shooting. Funny thing is, right after I did this, I noticed that Jill and Alex posted a comment with this same suggestion! He seems so sensitive to the insulin sometimes and I don't want to give him too much and have him bounce all over the place again.

I also started giving him Zobaline yesterday, so I'm hoping to see some improvement within the next month or so.

He's been acting fine, except for the weakness in his back legs occasionally, eating, preening, peeing and pooping! ;-) He's never been much of a purrer.

i think i'd get a +1 and +2 today for sure. you don't need any surprises. if they're less than the preshot number... feed him.

His +1 was 144, so a little higher than his pre-shot, which was 121. However, he ate 2 oz. of food immediately after his shot. I'm taking a +2 as well :smile:

I'll take a flat day of blues over a 22 any day. ;-)

Hi guys!

Yes, today was a great day of the blues! However, as the day progressed, his BG levels went up, eventually to 336 at PMPS time, to which we still stuck with the .05 units.

Of course, in talking with my friend, whose cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis about a month ago, I started researching and found something else to worry about ;-) :

Dr. Hodgkins states in her book Your Cat, Secrets to a Longer, Stronger Life; cats with FD typically have at least low-grade pancreatitis. As a result, when a cat comes along that is not achieving expected results with insulin, initial thoughts should turn to the likelihood of pancreatitis.

Should I be worried about Corduroy possibly having pancreatitis due to the fact that it's been difficult to regulate his BG levels with insulin? Oh boy! :roll:

I'm pretty sure this means cats who's blood glucose isn't responding to insulin therapy. Corduroy doesn't fit that at all..at least not yet

Best to be informed,(just in case) but don't go looking for problems...with as challenging as Cord has been, I think the diabetes is enough :-D
