Yeah, Zeke's back in the blues and greens. That's not the only improvement of late. The neuropathy in his hind legs is much better. He jumped up on our sectional twice last night - the first time we've witnessed him doing that in months. I'm so pleased to see this improvement in him. I know he's got to be feeling so much better.

I started giving him zobaline on 9/19 but that weekend we noticed he'd gotten an abscess (in his rear  ). Fortunately we already had a vet appointment scheduled the next day. It was pretty nasty seeing the vet clean it out - stuck his finger in there real deep to clean it out :o  :o  :o , but      it was obvious Zeke felt immediate relief. I had actually heard him working hard to poop the Thursday or Friday before the abscess. I think that's when the problem started or at least was exasperated. Just wondering, what can I give him (and how much) to help soften his stool a bit? He's not pooping quite as regularly recently as he had been.

Thank you in advance for the advice. Sending healing vines to all the LL sugar babies cat_pet_icon .

I'm thinking that a lot of people give PUMPKIN to loosen the stool - but NOT PUMPKIN PIE MIX - PURE PUMPKIN with NO spices and additives. Probably mix a little in with the food? I'm sure someone will come by and be more specific soon :-D

I've heard that baby food squash is another alternative to use. You only have to open a small jar so less waste that using a can of pumpkin. And I've seen people add it to food.

Good to see the blues back for Mr. Zeke!

another alternative is Miralax. i'm in the minority around here. i don't care to add more bulk to kitty's diet when they're having trouble with bowel movements. i give an 1/8 of a teaspoon of Miralax mixed in food twice a day to one of my civvies. one of his anal sacs burst several years ago and an x-ray showed what appeared to be the beginning stages of mega colon. he's been "regular" ever since...

if you decide to use Miralax, make sure you add some extra water to his food. Miralax works by drawing moisture into the colon.
