Well, here we go again....although I'm pretty sure the reason she's not eating is the URI she's got....she sneezes and sniffles so I really doubt if she's smelling much at all.

Of course her numbers are awful too, but I'm not surprised since she's got an infection.

Of course she has to do this on the weekend again.....vet's only open until 12 tomorrow and not at all on Sunday. Not sure I can get her up there by noon tomorrow (as well as adding more to our bill....can't very well expect China to go out and get a job when she's sick!!...lol)

I really wish I had a time machine.....I'd go back 10 days and oversleep the day of her dental

I remember you said you have an antibiotic left over from the last URI. Will the vet give you an RX to try without going there to get you through the weekend?

Have are you Chris? :bighug:

Ugh. I'm so sorry! What a roller coaster. Baytril is fairly reasonable online. Will your vet approve an order from an online vet med site? If amoxicillin works for her, you can buy fish meds without a prescription. We keep a bottle of FishMox around for the easy stuff.

I'm going to call and ask in the morning but I'm not sure how I'd get it....I know I used to be able to have one vet call another to fill a script, but I'm not sure if they'll still do that since they're supposed to have a "relationship" with the patient before prescribing meds.

Would be a lot easier to get it locally though!!

Baytril is what she was put on last time she had a URI....but the pills I have are about a year old so I'm not sure if they have much punch left to them. She'd probably be willing to approve it, but I'd still have to wait for it to be shipped (and I live in the middle of nowhere so it'd probably be late next week before I actually got it)

Have are you Chris?

I'm hanging in there.….still having the same problem with being SOB but since all this started with China, I've just been dealing with it. None of the tests they did show anything terribly wrong, so I don't know where to go from here. Thanks for asking!

If the vet can prescribe a human drug, it can be called into a local pharmacy.
The problem with human antibiotics is that unless you have a compounding pharmacy in your little town, you would have to go with a just add water suspension, and just about all human suspensions are sweet.

Maybe the vet's office could fill the Rx and leave it outside under a rock or summat for you to pick up at a reasonable hour.

Ugh, so sorry to hear! Frosty isn’t either! Do they have some kind of pact against us or something? :(

Hope she eats for you soon. :bighug:

I'd still have to drive all the way up there to get it (it's an hour away)…...living in farm country, to find a vet that had the ability to do dental x-rays I had to go to the nearest "big" city (60,000 is considered big compared to the 1000 or so here).

The vets around here are mostly mixed practice....they see more cats in barns than they do in the office.

Hopefully they'll be able to call the meds in and one of the vets here will fill it....that's what I'm really hoping for.

I'm sorry China is not eating. I hope you can get some meds for her. In the meantime, I'd try the old AB. I've been told a year is still good. Not too long ago one of my civvies was sneezing really bad and acting like it was turning into a URI. I had an old AB (about 3 years old) and I gave it to her along with Zyrtec and it cleared it up. Sending prayers.

I'd start that Baytril you have today - even if it's not fully active, some will be. To me, better to get a start on it now then get more Monday. I've used Baytril that old without an issue in the past....

I'm sorry to hear that China isn't feeling well again. Maybe try adding something really smelly to her food? Tuna juice perhaps? Sending lots of appy vines!

I wouldn't be afraid to use year- old Baytril. When someone here gets sick, my favorite vet says, "you probably have some Baytril there, right?"

Oh I can so relate!! Back August 2017 while Bubba was off the juice, I decided to be proactive and have his teeth cleaned prior to one year. He went out of remission after the dental and I am still trying to get him OTJ again. Forgive me if I all ready told you this........

I hope the Baytril helps her.

I hope China gets through this low period and starts eating again. She is probably fighting off the URI and still not feeling good after the dental. Thinking of you tonight.:bighug::bighug::bighug:
