I have a bottle of cypro now and ondansetron.

I question the dose.
The vet has on the bottle of cypro to give 1/4 to 1/2 of a 4mg tablet.
I've seen others, such as Dyana, say she gives 1/16 of a pill.... a mere crumb.
The ondansetron says 1/8 of an 8 mg tablet.

And when I give them, should I give the ondansetron first, wait half an hour and then the cypro.
I assume you want any nausea to go away before stimulating the appetite.

Shadow's actually eating okay today.
I do have the lab results but I have to get DH to reconnect the scanner. It's arguing with me. I don't take no sass from printers.... ;-)

I'm new to all these medications.
Thank you for your help.

Hope everyone is doing okay. I've had to work despite vaccines, and allergy shots, and cat bites. And mega doses of antibiotics. I'm just popping on occasionally.

I don't have any experience with the meds, but I'm glad Shadow is eating OK today. Prayers still coming your way!!

Anne and Zener use them regularly. I think they give Z 1/16th or less.

You can add a sheet to your SS and use that for the labs. Look at Tess's SS, you can copy the column w/ the test names and ranges and paste it onto the new blank sheet. Then type in the results. That part takes a little time but now you can add your next set of labs in another column and have an easy way to compare.

i have used mirtz for appetite stimulation and cerenia for nausea. haven't used those two, but the principle would be the same. yes, use the anti-nausea first and then the appy stimulant.

We give Zener 1 mg of ondansetron BID. We have 4 mg pills so we cut them into quarters. For the cypro, we think we give 1/32 of a 4 mg pill but it might be less. It really is just a tiny crumb. Shadow might need a little more but I would start with no more than 1/16. It takes about an hour to kick in. Our routine is to test, then give the meds in pill pockets, then the regular food, then the shot. Zener usually eats ok at the shot, it's later when his appy isn't so good and that's then the cypro kicks in. Too much cypro makes Zener rather frantic for food. It's easy to give more cypro. Anne just reminded me that it's generally recommended to give ondansetron before they eat but we don't, just because our pre-shot routine takes about 30 mins. Let us know if you have more questions. Paws crossed for Shadow's appy.

I think I want to be as conservative as possible with the cipro ... I don't want her chewing on my leg. ( or my face at night)
I'll keep it to a crumb until I know how she reacts.

Ultrasound is scheduled for Oct 11 at the late hour of 11 am. .... has to have a 12 hour fast.
