Happy Dance - shooting Blue! With the hope it won't cause a bounce, like it always has - he was at 511 last PMPS. That looks like an outlier compared to the values around it. Come ON Mr. Liver ... let's get with the program! I almost didn't get up for the +7 (I always do a +5) but I wondered what he was going to do coming off the bounce, and I'm glad I did! I hope this isn't a shift in his nadir, but just an effect of coming off a bounce a couple cycles ago.

WCR: Leo is his normal happy self, all Ps in place except the Diarrhea. Yesterday he stood on the back of The Chair staring at the light and trying to crawl up the wall. I though he was chasing imaginary bugs again, but it eventually turned out to be a stink bug crawling around inside the bowl. Hope the light fried the bug. Hate them. :twisted: I like the pic being overexposed on the light - I enhanced it a little and it looks kind of spiritual.

I'm a lucky bean - he eats all (or nearly all) his food immediately, and he wanders over for his testing when he hears the microwave turn on. He's a young cat, so he wants to play ALL the time, so I ran him around with the laser last night up and down the longest stretch of the apartment. There's a tile area in front of my little fireplace, and he learned pretty quickly not to chase the laser over the tiles because he loses all traction and slides into the fireplace - he runs that fast! :lol:

So let's see where his numbers go. I've been working from home in the mornings, and I hope this isn't a prolonged dip into the lagoon, although I'd love to see some greens!

Hi Lisa & Leo,

I love that picture! Stu used to like to chase light beams (the reflection of my watch on the walls and ceiling when the sun hit it just right) and would go tearing around the room. I would say to him: "here's your light, Sunshine!" when the sun moved around to where it "worked" (he kept track of the time and the seasons and always knew when the light would show up).

Very nice AMPS for Leo today. I hope that you'll be able to keep him in a narrower range of numbers. I agree that the 511 looks weird (and probably should have been retested).

HI Ann - thanks! Nice blue ... but he just threw a solid green at +1 ... I have a feeling about this cycle. I don't want a decrease. I want to steer if needed and keep him at this dose because it's the first one that's gotten him out of pinks/reds for a while. Paws crossed!

Hi Ella - good story, Sunshine!! Sometimes I see my civvie Molly jerking her head around looking at the wall (she doesn't chase imaginary bugs) and then I realized we're reflecting a light and didn't realize it! Maybe I should have retested the 511, but he gets his ear stuck so many times I figured I'd just see how the cycle went. I'll keep a note that it might not be real.

(I love this place .. "have a diarrhea-free day!" Where else can you say this stuff? :-D )

Lovely AMPS and great photo. That 82 - which (+Hour) is that? Doesn't say in the subject line. Halving the BG is pretty dramatic (if it happened in, say, an hour or two). I'd like to give you input but can't without the timeframe.

EDITED to add: Ah, I see, it was the (+1). Please add that info to your subject line, k? I would feed some LC to slow the drop. Also, a thought on trying to avoid reductions: Looking at your SS, I do understand where you're coming from. Still, keep in mind that "artificially" steering cycles with food that otherwise would have signalled a need for a reduction *can* cause problems, insulin overdosing, for one, specially if it's done repeatedly. That way, the risk of hypo (particularly if one day you're *not* there to steer) increases and one could end up really fighting to keep numbers out of the danger zone. Just something to bear in mind. As an alternative, should Leo emphatically ask for a reduction, and you're still anxious about that, you could try a shave instead of a full redux. My 2CW.

Jane has a point about reductions. Remember, you can always shave a dose if you think a reduction won't hold.

There is a slightly different approach to reductions that is used on the German Lantus forum. Rather than reducing with a drop below 50, they wait until a kitty drops below 50 three times on three separate days. Any drop below 40 gets an immediate reduction. If you use this approach, you should not shave a dose.

Ok, great. Curve looks lovely so far :-) Good steering. LC was a good choice. That way, you're steering but not hittin the brakes. Very nice.

Jane - I agree - I don't want to steer hard, but last time someone advised (Sienne maybe?) I split his third meal into 2 parts and feed half at +3 and half at +4. I might do that again depending. So far he's eaten his normal food schedule.

Sienne - interesting. I'll have to see about that. My DIL is due to give birth to my second granddaughter on Saturday, so DH is coming down to take care of Leo while I take care of granddaughter #1. Not sure if I want to saddle DH with that, but he'll have not much else to do here and he should get the hang of doing it himself.

So as things go, I'll consider a shave or not.

Well, all that food at PS and +1 is wearing off already, or because I shot a falling number? Hmmmm.

+3 67 ... just gave 1/4 can 3% (he would normally get 1/2 can but going to delay the other 1/4 until +4)

Does this sound like a good idea?

Roni - Thank you so much for your kind words! Leo is my little baby, even though we haven't had him very long, he ran in and grabbed our hears. No, I didn't know you were a psychic. I'm happy to share the picture with you. He stared at it for so long and I had no idea what he was looking at (and I tried to check it out). But after a while of this, I saw a stink bug running around in the light. Ewwww. I really don't know if it was there before because they are pretty big as bugs go around here. Who knows!

He's at 131 at a +5. I can probably go to work, right? It seems like he will keep sliding up, although my only concern is that I shot him on a decreasing value and I don't know where he is on the insulin, and he might slide back down. Last night his nadir was around +7.

Thoughts?

That was basically a blue surf you shot, though yes, I see your concern of the slide across the entire cycle to get to this preshot.

Ok. I would leave out LC, maybe mix in a touch of MC if you're anxious considering possible later nadir. LC would be good to try and maybe encourage even a surf in the blues rather than a bounce. But yes, especially with a bit of food out, I think you'll be ok to go to work. Will you be back for (+11)? That would be useful, as always :mrgreen:

Not sure where the others are - it must be a busy day/evening for everyone :lol: That's what I think. Does that help?

Jane - I'd like to encourage a blue surf rather than risk him dipping, so I'll leave some food. I think 1/4 can LC should guide him over a +7 nadir if one exists, since it's +5.5 right now. I hope he doesn't bounce, but at least his last couple were not as terrible as they were in the beginning

He popped a 154 at +5-5 on my way out the door. I'd already gotten his snack ready, so I went ahead and gave it to him although he probably didn't need it anymore. He's been such a good boy with all the testing! I just love my Little Leo!!!
