Once again I want to thank everyone for all your posts. You have been so kind and thoughtful to me and Boris and we are forever grateful.
I just got home from visiting with him. He looks soooo much better. He's able to walk now without collapsing on his hind legs and staggering. He's still somewhat weak but a million times better than yesterday. I'm having a case of the guilts for letting things get so awful but I kept thinking if I tried this... or that... or maybe add this med...I know they can get sick so fast but now seeing how much better he is - I'm wishing I had just gone in on the w/e. My DH keeps reminding me that it's always easier to look back and see things more clearly and we were doing everything we could at the time. I just hated seeing him sooo awful yesterday. He's eating like a champ but he is still on continuous IV fluids. It's so good to see him do this.
His Hematocrit/PCV is still at 26. And his bilirubin is now increased to 0.9 - just above normal but it's slowly increased since the beginning of this year. Now it's just a matter of waiting on the cytology reports. And the liver function tests were repeated at this clinic and were comparable to last weeks labs - still elevated but much better than in the past.
He's getting Buprenex as needed. And they are weaning off the pred for right now until the "picture" of what is going on is clearer. I had to remind them that he has been on gabapentin - it can't be stopped cold turkey so they were going to restart that today.
So he's spending one more nite at least. I feel good about that. My favorite vet nurse wasn't on today so they only let me be with him for an hour - we laid next to each other on the floor - he loves his bed and being petted. So he rested and i just enjoyed being with him. When Anna Marie is on she just brings him in connected to his fluids and lets him stay as long as I want. But that's ok. I want whatever they think is best for him. That's their job! So I'll go back tomorrow and go from there.
Thanks for letting me ramble on here. And again - thanks for listening and helping Joe, Boris and me. We hope someday we can do something special for all of you!
We hope this finds all of you having a good day!
