Well he did a pretty dramatic bounce from yesterday's 54 at +6.5...He was at 421 by pmps

right around +9 yesterday as his BG was rising from the 54 reading he went to the litter box 3 times in a row, the first time was a VERY stinky poop, I missed the 2nd one, but followed him on the 3rd one and crouched like he was going to poop and nothing but a long string of mucus came out.

I have not seen him have any diarrhea or any kind of litterbox issue (other than peeing a lot) since this all started so this is new

Im really hoping that was because of the bounce and sudden rise in BG and not a bad reaction to his new food *fingers crossed*

He seems better today. Just waiting for the bounce to clear now

How many days has he been on the new food?
It might just be a reaction to the change of diet.
Nice numbers, and I hope he clears that bounce quickly.

today is day 6 of the new food

Im contemplating a packaged raw but I havent had a chance to do any research yet....

I figured Id give it a little more time and see if it reoccurs or not

Getting a cat's tummy used to a big food change takes a couple of weeks, so maybe go slow with a transition.
(Apart from the change you did to get him off the high carb food - that was necessary, pronto.)

hmm I did change it all at once. I took him off the high carb raw food but was still feeding some mice here and there. (thats all he was getting before: the high carb raw mix, mice, and some no carb treats.) I started seeing bg spikes after feeding the mice though. It could have been coincidence or natural bounces he was having but I stopped the mice just to be sure. It was about 24 hours after I stopped feeding them that he hit that super low yesterday.

do you think adding in some raw ground chicken might help his stomach transition (no carbs) or just give it more time?

I'd say just give it another week and see how he is. Then make an assessment. You haven't been seeing any pudding poo or anything else odd since changing his food, so maybe his body is kinda detoxing. Don't add anything else into the mix right now. After he eats, listen to his tummy at +1 and +2, to see if it's making loud grumbly digestive noises. That will help tell you how his pipes are doing ;-)

It's also good to always have a box of Pepcid AC (not the other kind, which has ingredients that cats shouldn't have) on hand. It's like Tums for them. If your cat is ever having an upset stomach, you can give him 1/4 of a Pepcid 30 minutes before a meal. I cut the quarter tablet into halves, and wrap liverwurst around it and my cat's only too happy to eat it.

he ate about an hour ago and I listened to his tummy....nothing loud really just a few small gurgly noises and a lot of purring, lol

thanks for the tips!
Ill grab some Pepcid AC just in case and keep an eye on him

That's great, no tummy rumbling is a good sign. See how he does with his tummy, litterbox and BGs for the next few days, and you'll have a good feel for how he's doing overall, especially after the bounce clears.
