Hello!!

Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=125996

Billie was coughing a lot overnight, and sure enough, this morning I found a cluster of new hives on and around her tail close to the ones that popped up the day before yesterday  At least it's obvious that the symptoms are connected. That makes it slightly less frustrating. But it's really frustrating, and I feel really bad for Billie. I'm going to call the specialist on Monday and see what she thinks.

We're on day two of Wild Calling! and that is going well. Wendy, thanks so much for linking Ann's chart of food info. That's awesome. It looks like the rabbit is basically 0 carb which is not ideal but the buffalo is 7.8%. If I mix the two, that will work out. I tried that tonight. Billie doesn't seem to like the buffalo as much as the rabbit, but she ate some of it.

I gave both cats Advantage today on the off chance that fleas are the problem. Billie does have a flea allergy - I know that from a few years ago when we moved into an apartment that turned out to be flea infested, and she broke out in hives. In that case, she was very clearly covered in fleas. I think fleas are unlikely because I haven't found any on either cat, they don't go outdoors, and the 3 vets we saw didn't find any evidence of fleas on her, but who knows. I'm just trying to cover all bases.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn has some leaky anal glands. This happens to her maybe once a year, and it usually ends in a trip to the vet to get them expressed. So, that may be in my future this week. :YMSIGH:

Sending vines to all the cats and beans needing vines!

Hi Deanna,
I'm sorry to hear that Billie is still suffering from allergies, but glad to hear that she still likes her new foods. Have you considered trying Standard Process Allerplex? https://www.standardprocess.com/Products/Standard-Process/Allerplex#.VCdVsOfFltc
This is a human allergy remedy that has been around since 1959. Marje recommended it to me for Rusty's chronic congestion. He took it for over a year and seemed to benefit (one capsule a day mixed into a teaspoon of turkey stage 1 babyfood), but has tired of it and is not taking it at present. Marje has had great success with it with some of her kitties over the years. You can get it from health professionals (Rusty's vet has an account with Standard Process). You can also buy it online through Amazon. It's worth a try. I was worried about the bovine ingredients, since Rusty is allergic to beef, but both Marje and Sienne believe that extracts like those are not the same as food ingredients.

Good luck with your vetty week ahead!

Oh Deanna, I am sorry to hear more hives and coughing :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I hope you can get some answers from your specialist Monday. Glad to hear Billie likes the new fuds, and I hope the flea treatment helps. Tiger had a bad reaction to Advantage and Frontier. I tried Revolution this year, so far, so good. Hugs to you both!

(((Deanna)))

I know this is driving you crazy with worry and wish there was something I could do to help you. Just know that I'm saying lots of prayers for Billie and sending anti-stress vines your way. I'm also throwing in some anti-leaking vines for Brooklyn. :YMHUG:

Thank you Ella, Ruth and Shelly!! I really appreciate the visits and the sweet thoughts!

Ella, Marje did recommend Allerplex. I ordered it on Amazon, but the order didn't go through because I had an expired credit card linked to the account, and I forgot about it. So, I will order that again for sure! Thank you for reminding me!

Ruth, thanks for the hugs! I will look into Revolution if the flea treatments become a regular thing. I haven't used anything on the girls in 3 years, but used Advantage last time.

Shelly, Brooklyn says thanks for the anti-leaking vines and I say thanks for the laugh   That's a new one! So far, no leaking tonight from what I can tell. But, I think a vetty visit is in her future. I know that some people express anal glands at home, but I know she'd never forgive me.

I am looking forward to Monday when I can call the vet and see what she thinks about Billie's new hives. It's interesting that they're in a new location. I wonder if that means something. We'll see!! I don't have much going on tomorrow and am looking forward to a day with the cats and nothing else to do. Tomorrow AM will be cycle 6 at 1.25 and we'll be heading back up tomorrow night if her numbers don't look better. I am headed to bed but will visit more condos tomorrow. I hope everyone has a nice night!

Hi Deanna,

Anti-allergy vines for Billie. Poor darling. Could Brooklyn's anal gland issue be allergy related too? Angie's skin, breathing and anal gland issues are all triggered by allergies.

Ella - that's very interesting. I didn't want to try it because beef is still a possible allergen for Angie. Hmm...
