Left out 13% carbs last night after our "open every can" smorgasbord to get him to eat. The bowl was empty this morning so we're not sure if it was him or Tillie. If it was Mr Z, could explain the AMPS and big drop @ +2. But, who can really explain anything Mr Bouncy Zener does? :lol: :lol: :lol:

I was up mid-cycle last night and fed him, then realized I fed him before I tested him. Oh well, poke break.

It's amazing what a better appetite does for improved bean attitude. We were both down last night and today things are better when Zener is eating! ;-)

Will get a +3 before we have to leave for school this morning. I'll be able to get home for a mid-cycle check too. He loves his drama on work days! :shock:

Hi guys .. isn't it crazy how much the way our cats are feeling can affect our moods? Same with their bg's! I am glad to hear that zener decided to eat for you guys last night finally ... looks like he is making his way down nicely .. have a great day guys!

Good morning Anne & Liz!! Glad to see Zener is coming down into the yellows already. Maybe blues are next on his agenda.

Thanks for the support and kind words Devon and Melissa! I believe it was Jill who wrote to us "don't let your cat's BG values dictate your moods". We're working on that. ;-) It's harder on us when we can't get him to eat!

We were a little surprised at the big +2 drop but now he's hopped the local train, so we're off to school. Have a great Monday!

I had to laugh at this " "open every can" smorgasbord ". My neighborhood ferals love those kinds of nights, it's a feast for them the next day!

Thanks for stopping in Jac. I wish we had other kitties who would eat this food when we have an "open every can" night. We end up throwing so much away and we hate to waste! ;-)

Zener started in pink and has spent most of the day in yellow, and blue on a human meter. His appetite has picked up a little bit today, so that helps his beans feel better! :-D

I rotated a few foods under his nose today that he used to like and he licked at them a bit. Then tonight, he was interested in his go to 11% med carb food and ate pretty good. Everything else is good - all 5Ps in place, so not quite sure why the decreased appetite, other than it is a constant struggle for us to get enough calories in him.

Back at work and it's crazy for us at school right now, so we are woefully behind in catching up on condos. Hope everyone is having a quiet and peaceful Monday evening and we are sending healing vines to all our kitties & beans in need.

Zener is eating better today. And I have a question about whether his stomach may be a little upset or if he is just being his usual picky self. After he eats, we often hear a lot of tummy rumbling and it's often like he burps. Can a cat burp? (OK, that's not really my eating question... ;-) )

He also will act interested in food, then lick the fortiflora off and not eat the food. Anyway, we've read on FDMB about cats having upset tummies and using Pepcid a/c to treat. Are there particular symptoms that you see that indicates acid stomach or upset tummy? His eating had really picked up in the last week or two (and we were relieved) and we have not used cypro appetite stimulant in several weeks (and we also read about not using this, if your kitty is nauseated). He has not been vomiting, other than a hairball, for a couple of months now. Any advice is welcome!

i use pepcid for Do Lou in times of nausea and yes cats can burp for Do Lou does it some.. not sure if a cat burp is the same as a humans but sure seems similar if you get pepcid just make sure its the regular pepcid and not the pepcid ac my vets recommend 1/4 a pill of the 10mg up to 2x a day to me signs of nausea with a cat on not eating much and lip smacking, your vet may recommend a different dose but this is what I use for Do Lou.

Thanks Lisa! Zener is a lip smacker and has done that since a kitten, because of the cerebellar hypoplasia he can be a drooler. We will be on the lookout for lip smacking when we give him food but he doesn't eat and see if it is connected to feeding or just his regular "drool maintenance"! ;-) I have seen pepid a/c on the list as a suggestion and wonder what is the difference between this and regular pepcid?

Actually, it's the Pepsid AC and not Pepsid Complete. You want the regular strength Pepsid in the 10 mg tablets. Generic famotidine is fine, too.

Thanks Sienne and Lisa! We will get some and try to see if it improves his appetite. He is eating freeze dried chicken treats but not all that interested in his regular wet food tonight. Still, his appetite is better today than last night.
 
I know this sounds crazy, but shortly after +4 and some freeze dried chicken treats, Zener belched one that a beer drinker would be proud of! :lol: :lol: After that, he settled in for a nap and was snoring like a buzz saw. I just did his +6 and he was begging for food after his poke. He just now ate like a lumberjack for the first time in days. I think his tummy was upset and now he is feeling better. Who wouldn't after such an explosive burp? :shock: :lol:
