Yesterday recap:
AMPS: 117
+9: 82
PMPS: 153 (!!?)
+3: 102
+6: I slept thru alarm ohmygod_smile

Good morning, LL! ☼☼☼
Sending vines to J.D., Shadow, Pixie, Tarragon, Bob, Jupe, Sienne's DS's kitty Shiwa, Lyresa's SpikeKitty, Doogle (dental today), and ALL OTHER KITTIES IN NEED. ♥ Feel better, kitties!

Ripley is doing great today.
It's good to see a green preshot number  . Maybe she likes this dose after all. Last night's pmps was a bit of a surprise.
Another surprise is that when I checked her meter this morning to log last night's midnight test into her ss, there wasn't one! :o I guess I didn't hear my alarm. It's weird, because I have a memory of testing her ~ but maybe it's such a 'ritual' each night that I'm just imagining I did ~ or maybe I dreamt I tested her. ;-) Either way, it looks like she reached the lagoon at some point last night :-D .

She's so funny with her treat-demanding squawks: if I'm ignoring her 'requests' for more shrimp treats to be sprinkled onto her fuds, (usually because I'm busy typing up her condo), she will go find DH and sit at his feet and squawk at him   . This morning he told her that she wasn't going to 'train' him like she has me and that she needs to go back to her mama ~ and she did!

Yay! It looks like I can expect my new syringes to arrive today (Terumos). I might make the switch tonight ~ DH will be home tomorrow, so he can test her BGs for any changes in dose-size due to the switch. Then we'll have the whole weekend to monitor, too.

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94

Nice green start Ripley!!   Too funny on the sleep testing, or lack of. Been there. I think we are just so ingrained in our habits that days and nights melt into eachother. Sweet Ripley trying to sweet talk dad. My non-cat friends would say I am crazy, but I know all my fur kids understand what we are saying. Have a great day Josie!

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94

Gorgeous start for Ripley! She just wanted to keep you on your toes by tossing you a curve ball last night. It is so funny that you remember testing her, but there was no log of it on the meter. You must do some genuine sleep testing if you're able to go through the whole process and only remember doing so because the meter has a number on it!

Ripley is a smart girl, going from bean to bean to get what she wants. Very similar here...the kitties try DaddyBean, but they know it is MamaBean who will cave.

I've been using Wildside Salmon treats for Trix's food decorations, but I think I'm going to look into something different once this bag is done. DH just noticed that the bag says "Made in China", and that scare the you-know-what outta me. I've never tried shrimp with her...what do you use, and where do you get them? Trix does also like the Pure Bites chicken, so I had been going back and forth between the salmon and Pure Bites for her post-pokey treats, but I do need to replace that salmon now.

Have a great day, Josie!!

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O)

WOOT! LOVE that amps! Who knows what the deal was with that pmps last night. Maybe Ripley was just throwing you a curve ball. Seems like maybe with that amps she really does like this dose. GOOOOOOOOOO Ripley!

Too funny on the squawks and the training for treats. I love it that when DH said no to training him too and go to mama, she did.

Have a great day Josie. I hope all goes well.

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94

Nice green this morning. That's funny with Ripley's squawking for treats to your DH and him telling her to go back to you and she understood and did. She's a smart kitty.

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94

Hi Josie! The sleep-testing is so funny. I totally understand - sometimes I wake up at actual getting-up time and have no memory of whether I actually tested & shot at 4:30 or not, and have to check my handwritten log to make sure. What a nice green AMPS, though! I hope Ripley stays in such lovely shades.

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94, +9 102, +10.5 105

Thanks for the visits today Melissa, Amy, Michelle, Carla, and Amy! :-D

Not sure why Ripley is spiking a little in the afternoons (both yesterday and today) ~ perhaps her little body is telling me it needs a drop added.

Good news #1: The new syringes arrived today, so she will be getting her first Terumo-dose tonight. Drop-addition postponed until I can see if she's affected by the syringe change.

Good news #2: Target accepted the Lantus savings card!! WooHoo for a $25 pen!!! (doing the happy dance dancing_cat).

They gave me the run-around about using the coupon (said it likely won't be approved  ), then told me that I needed a prescription for the needles to go with the pen; when I let the pharmacists know that I use syringes instead of the needles, they looked at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. I further explained, and further confused them. When I went to pick up the pen, a pharmacist said she did me a favor and called my vet to ok the needle prescription. I had to re-explain and deny the needles ~ they seemed confused and annoyed. (And just yesterday the same pharmacist told me that they don't call vets anymore to ok scripts, that I needed to bring in a handwritten script for the pen  ). Jeesh. I feel like I wasn't being listened to. BUT I DID get the pen for a discount, so it was ALL WORTH IT :-D :-D

A win for diabetic kitties! :thumbup

Re: 9/26 Ripley AMPS 94, +9 102, +10.5 105

Wahoooo all around! I am so glad you got the coupon to go through at Target!! I know, we FD beans sure confuse the rest of the world, don't we?

Thanks for the info on the shrimp treats. I'm going to see if me local Ma and Pop pet food store will order them in for me. I'll be curious to see what Trix thinks!

Have a great night, Josie!!

So there's that pmps spike... so mysterious.
I fed Ripley her afternoon Pepcid treat in 1/2 tsp. bf squash yesterday and today (she seems to suddenly dislike pill pockets  ), but she gets 1-2 T. of bf squash in her breakfast each day, and I don't see this kind of spike after that...

Ripley's doing fine ~ didn't get squirmy during fluids like last night.

Thanks for stopping by again Amy, and sharing my excitement for saving $$ :-D

Depending on what syringes you were using before the Terumos, you may find that the dosing is different. I was using Monoject syringes and I need about 0.5u more with the Terumos. (The Monojects have a cone shaped "hub" above the zero line that fills with insulin. The Terumos don't have this.)

It also took me a while to "translate" the Monoject dose into "Terumo". But it is worth it, especially if you learn to use the digital calipers. With calipers you can always give an accurate dose, regardless of whether or not the lines on the syringe are accurate. (the lines are frequently "off" on Terumos; if you don't have calipers you can "eyeball" where the zero line is in relationship to the plastic disc and make adjustments accordingly).

Good luck, Josie.

Very good news all the way around dancing_cat
YAY on the coupon!!
YAY on the syringes!!
And hopefully the new syringes will be just what Miss Rippers will need to get those spikes down a bit
Have a great night Josie!!

I hope it's a smooth transition to the Terumos. Do you really give her 1 to 2 T. (T = tablespoon, t = teaspoon)? The squash has been good for Zener, we are amazed. Have a great evening!
Liz

Yep, Liz ~ probably more like 1 Tablespoon, but I 'eyeball' it, so could vary.
Anything to help out my constipation-proned girl.
She gets a ton of Miralax each meal, too. (Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration  .)

She also gets about 1T pumpkin in each dinner (just to 'mix it up' a little).

I'm glad the squash is helping Z-man :-D :-D :-D

Hi Josie,
Yay for getting the coupon accepted!!!
Ripley is so cute going from one bean to another asking for her treats.
