Hi there-
Previous Condo

Fur Ball is at 111 this morning. Do we shoot? I'm thinking we do since it is still above 100 but am not sure.

He was up at 1:30am and 4:00am all playful so I did not get out of bed to get a reading. Wondering if I should have to seen how his numbers went.

Thanks, Karen

Re: 9/26 Fur Ball AMPS 111

I think you did fine to shoot this morning.
That's one thing good about the spreadsheets is that you can look back to simuliar situations and see what you did last time under the same conditions. Like today's 111, I would compare to the two pre shot numbers on 09/23.
I think you are doing a great job ;-)

Thanks Dyana.

Greg went home at lunch. He is at 61. Do we need to do anything yet or wait and retest in 15-30 min?
Any advice would be helpful. I'm not at home so am talking w/ Greg on the phone.

Thanks, Karen

Re: 9/26 Fur Ball AMPS 111 +4/61 - Concerned about Hypoglyce

I'm not normally an advice giver, but I would fed some LC to try and slow Fur Ball down. He's not in danger at 61, tho.

I completely agree with Anne. A bit of low carb should encourage a surf. It looks like this is around the time of Fur Ball's nadir so LC should be good.

Thanks Sienne and Anne-
Greg just tested again and it was 73 at +5.25. AND he did not feed him anything. Whew. He's going to test him again in 30 min but I have a group starting at that time so won't be able to post. Hopefully this was Fur Ball's nadir and will be on the (slow) rise for the afternoon.

We normally only feed him in the AM and PM but I'm reading about a lot of people feeding throughout the day. Since we feed raw, I don't want to leave that out all day. We normally aren't able to 'snack him' in the middle of the day. Greg's been taking time off work to come home this week just so we can monitor Fur Ball better and get more numbers. Is that something we need to be doing differently?

Guess I've been reading too many posts and got a bit nervous.

Thanks! Karen

My Neko gets fed raw food as well. I have an autofeeder QPet Autofeeder that has a compartment to keep ice or a small freezer pack. There are other autofeeders that have cooling capability. Neko gets her +1 and +2 meals in the day and night from the autofeeder. If your cat eats all at once (like Neko, she is definitely not a grazer), then you might want to look at an autofeeder to spread out the meals when you aren't home. It's easier on the pancreas to have mini meals.

Looks like Fur Ball is having a nice surf today. I leave food out for Furball so she can snack during the day, but I don't feed raw food. At the beginning, I only fed her at certain times, but she can be a picky eater and wouldn't always eat all of her food. I started leaving food out and she seems happier and healthier. I've been told small meals throughout the day are better for the pancreas. A feeder might be a good idea for you.

Thanks Wendy and Carla-
We may have to do some research. Fur Ball really isn't too much of a gorger. When we put food down, he will eat a bit, wander off and then came back for about an hour or two snacking on his meal. He hasn't seemed to mind it too much but by feeding time he will lay by his food bowl indicating he's ready to eat. :) Very funny.

He seemed to surf pretty good but we were a bit nervous when he was lower. Its hard just taking time to collect the data to see how his body responds.

Hope your days went well also.

Karen

Karen, those numbers are looking good! I know how scary it is when they drop below 100 for the first time! Kismet surfed in the mid greens for the most of yesterday and I felt the need to check every 30 minutes out of paranoia. I hope Fur Ball's numbers today are prophetic of a reduction to come!

HI Courtney-
thanks for the encouragement. We so hope that he'll go into remission (but, then again, who doesn't!). I'm not sure how much testing we are going to be able to do tonight. Right now it is thundering pretty good and Fur Ball is under the bed and getting him out will be pretty difficult. He does not do well with loud noises.

Glad to hear Kismet is doing better.

I don't think I've welcomed you all to Lantus Land but we are glad to have you all here. What a Greg day for Fur Ball!

You did really well with his numbers today.

Be sure and ask us questions...we are here to help and to teach :-D
