Good day Lantus!
I wanted to do this earlier today, but I had to attend to other things... like get my furbaby some fresh salmon for brunch! Yes, a year a go today, Tizon received his last shot of insulin!
We started on the diabetes adventure when I gave molasse-based glucosamine to Tizon.... thanks to a vet. It is likely that he was already walking the diabetes line, but that pushed him over the edge. It took me a month to get the courage to home test, my boy was melting like butter... I found this board and read all I could on insulin and feline diabetes. I started with one insulin, than another... than testing, testing, testing... and all this time quasi going against the 'better' advice of the medical professional.... I was terrified of coming home to a hypo cat (which I would have to take to the vet and likely get yelled at).
I was trying to understand so I could rationalize my fear. I was no doubt high maintenance on the seasoned people in this forum; always asking questions... I am very grateful of the patience Jojo, Jill, Libby, Sarah and others had for me... thank you!!! o
Tizon gained some of his weight back, but he often shows me how skinny he is by sitting on the people scale in the washroom. Poor baby... so skinny 18.5 lbs  . Now he gets dasuquin (thank you Dasuquin fairy) and cartrophen. He also had all his teeth removed and you wouldn't know from looking at him, except when he tries to gum me... lol.
.....so as a final thought, his post-breakfast BG was 74!
Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We heart you!!!!!!!!!!! drinking24
