carl - thanks for your thoughts on the ear owie testing situation.. i will examine with a light to show the veins. i am really short on finesse and hit the big vein too often and need better skills.
and......he is a non connoisseur litter eater, any brand will do :lol:

ETA: I think when he gives you a lower number at +1 than at PS, you should get a +1.5.

I don't think I would reduce him unless he stays too low to shoot in the morning. This is just the depot from the higher dose. See what he does tonight.

Lather rinse repeat...maybe a little more of the honey.

If he keeps this up, we may have to drop him back on the dose to drain the depot a bit.

Looks like you'll have to barter with Reuben for a drama-free cycle, for when you want to take him to the vet! :lol:

We're also going to make another month's worth of catfood this weekend - running lower faster now that Henry has decided being a carnivore is the thinking cat's meow ;-) Magpie always helps but tasting all the ingredisnts - egg yolk, meat, liver... We mix it all in these enormous saucepans, and she props herself up on the rim, reaches in, and delicately fishes out whatever she wants to taste. :lol: You also use Dr. Lisa's recipe, right? (I don't know how many people owe their cats' amazing health to her! She rocks!)

yeah, in a blender, sheesh, if only i could get the replacement part for the grinder... the motor on it could pull a dodge ram truck... but the seating on the screw stripped when i was grinding bone... i had no idea it was happening. the motor just kept going!!! what kind of grinder do you have?

Our grinder... er, um... It's big and shiny? :lol: I've no idea what brand - it's a South African one though. It's been working very well. Bummer on the replacement part for yours - how come you can't get it? And does that mean you're looking at buying a whole new grinder?!

Yup, surfin the 60s. Waiting until (+4.5) works for me :smile: Maybe you have time to concoct a make-shift food portion :lol: The 60s are great, and this way, we'll see how stable Reuben stays when he goes past the 30-minute feedings. If he's wobbled back down in half an hour, you'll feed.

Did you catch my questions about the reduction anxiety?

sorry, i`m falling behind in conversationing!! first, i wanted to comment on queen madge selecting delicacies out of the pot, soooo cute!!!! and then 'i don`t know, big and shiney?' made me laugh so hard!! ...

I do have to get my grinder fixed, i`ve been writing to the company that sold it to me (different than the company that makes it) trying to get the part - to no avail. I`ll have to go straight to the manufacturer. Being in Mexico makes some things more complicated.

I was nervous about the reduction -- after the last one and the disturbing phase of going back up to extreme high numbers... that`s all..

okay, gotta make a little food. no, again no time! must test. :razz:

Ah, okay, that's what I suspected (about you being a bit nervous of reducing). This time looks very different to me, though, FWIW: He's allowed time on the 1.75u to really let it "take" and then, here he is, really earning the reduction. You've got every reason to expect this one to hold :smile:

and yes, i see now how the 1.75u was a success, that the process the insulin was busy with just had to run it's course. it was just really painful for part of the time.

+3.5 was at most 1.5tsp lc with 1/16th tsp of hc

he is eating 1.5tsp lc right now.

i didn`t get a +5.. time is getting a little wonky and i had no idea it had come and gone!

i`ll get the +5.5 now

finally made a little food, and he`s having another 1.5tsp
 
Ah, well, yes that happens :smile: Time just gets away from beans now and then!!

The (+5.5) is fine.

So that we can assess better how this cycle went - when you have a minute, could you maybe do a quick recap of from PMPS to now (+5.5) *including* the times, at test-time and between, that you fed, and what you fed?

That way we'll get a great sense of how long Reuben takes to respond, and we'll know for next time.

Let's see what the +5.5 tells us - maybe you'll be able to give him another hour's break :smile:

pretty much what i would expect from the amount of hc i gave him... it was way more than this morning.

great idea, doing a recap. i'll do it tomorrow though, as at 4am and off the hook with Reuben I think I will succumb to sleep. haven`t had much of that recently. hope you don`t mind...

I'd probably leave out a touch of LC in case, in a couple of hours, he feels like wobbling back down. OR, alternatively, you could get a test in a couple of hours?

I'd also suggest a (+11) again.
